My 2000 GMC Jimmy's RPM's get too high (around 3,500) when shifting. It does this with all gears. It doesn't want to shift until you let off the gas. Also it shifts fine when shifting manually.

My 97 Jimmy was doing the same thing, codes P0740 & P0753 witch are torqe converter lock up & shift solinoid. I unhooked the wires in the drivers side of the trany and cleaned them with contact cleaner bought at the parts store. I reconected the harness and disconected the baterie for a couple of houres and no trouble since.... 4 days so far Knock on wood........ Hope it helps

sounds like the vacuum lines are either pinched or the vacuum pump is shot. try getting a mechanic look at the lines on and around your transfer case... also try checking the fuses for the 4wd selector. let me know how it goes

You have extra air leaking into the intake manifold that mimicks a throttle that is open further than it really is. Check for vacuum leaks.

Does your van have an "EAT" switch -- lower right hand side of instrument panel?
Pressing the switch in changes the shift points by making the transmission shift at a higher RPM.
If the van has the "EAT" switch and it is engaged, try pushing it in again to disengage it.

Your transmission is electronic, it read's the the speed sensor from the yoke and relay's the information to the ECM which tell's the servos in the transmission acivate to change the gears up or down with the engine out put.
