I drive a 2006 Volkswagon Jetta, and just the other day, the windshield wipers started to only work when the car is in motion. When the car is stopped at a stoplight or stop sign, the wipers stop, too. Then they start back up again when the car starts. A few hours later, the "hood open" sign popped up. I opened and closed the hood and so I know the hood is shut, but the light remains on. Additionally, the "airbag fault" sign popped up as well. Does anyone know if any of these problems are something I can fix? I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for an electrical diagnosis. I really don't want to put more money into this car (I have put hundreds and hundreds of dollars into this car in the past two years). Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
SOURCE: my jetta sputters sometimes when im driving
I had a very similar problem with my 1999 jetta. Was it raining outside? Was your front grill wet or soaking? It is possible it is a crack in the ignition coil. The water would get into the ignition coil and cause the engine to 'jump' sputter out, die and the engine light wuold come on. Other than that, i don't know. I hope this may help you.

Guys, what you are experiencing is the car built warning system. When your engine light blinks it indicates a Major Problem has occurred or is occurring in the engine. When this occurs the cars goes into a "safe," mode which means all power is cut by at least half in an effort to save the car from more major damage. You can take your VW to any large chain autoparts store (autozone, advance, etc) a lot of them are offering a free engine diagnosis. Do this if possible to see where the problems maybe coming from and ways to fix them.
SOURCE: 2002 Volkswagon Jetta won't start in cold weather
I had a similar problem with my older 2000 model jetta 1,9TDi and also with my current 2002 1,9TDI.
On both cars the problem started once the cars got past approx.160th KM.
Take the car to any Bosch diesel dealer and ask them to increase the dwell time on the glow plugs (increase the time that the glow plugs stay on, when the ignition is swtiched on)
Cheers.
SOURCE: 2006 volkswagon jetta brake problem
A SIX INCH C-CLAMP, PURCHASED AT THE AUTO PARTS STORE, IS NEEDED TO PUSH THE PISTON INTO THE CALIPER AS LONG AS IT IS THE FRONT BRAKES THAT YOU ARE WORKING ON. IF YOU ARE REFERRING TO THE REAR BRAKES, THEN THE PISTON MUST BE TURNED COUNTERCLOCKWISE(TO THE LEFT). HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK
SOURCE: where is the fuse block for a 2006 volkswagon
The fuse must be int he main fuse box. The position of the fuses is normally marked on the inside of the fuse box cover and also in the owner's handbook. If you don't come right with these, work your way through the fuses looking for a blown one. TO lessen your search the wiper fuse should be between 15 to 20 amps.
