1999 Dodge Intrepid with flickering Dash Lights and Wipers Delay Problems

I'm trying to narrow down if I have one problem within the electrical system or two separate problems. My dashboard lights actually began flickering before the problem with the windshield wiper delay. I will go sometimes a few months with no dash light flickering and for no obvious reason they will start flickering again. When I first turn on the windshield wipers at a delay setting they typically function as if I have them on the low continuous setting for about 30-60 sec. before running according to the delay setting. Sometimes on delay, they will randomly wipe twice at a low continuous speed then pause for several seconds, run at low continuous, then at the appropriate delay setting. I almost always have a problem turning them off. Sometimes the wipers will stop immediately where ever they are in the cycle (i.e., in the middle of the windshield) or they won't stop until about 30 sec. after I have turned them off. It is like the wipers have a mind of their own. Are the dash lights and wiper on the same circuit? What might be the problem or problems?

If your voltage regulater in the charging system (distributor, altinater, battery, PCM) was replaced then the entire PCM where the volt. regulator nis held should have been replaced, so hopefully it was.
To check the charging system make sure when the truck is running the battery reads 13.5 to 14.5 volts (may go as high as 16) and when not running the battery should be at 12 volts. Any high and low voltages meen that the regulater or PCM are still bad and could be your problem.
to check the wiper circuit, pull its fuse and place a continuity tester over the fuse positions terminals, should have continuity, if not you have a wiring issue and the circuit needs tested at different sections until the break is found. Also the tester to check the wipers ground, place one test lead on a known/good grounding spot and the other on your wiper ground if there is no continuity than you are not grounded and you have to find the short.
You can get a Haynes repair manual that has all circuit diagrams in it, if your able to read circuit diagrams, hope this helps.

This sounds like an issue with your ignition switch. Basically what is happening here is that you are shutting off your vehicle, but the ignition switch is not working correctly and is allowing certain accessories to stay on.

The instrument cluster in this van is really a computer display and it has malfunctioned. This is a common complaint on this van and you must remove the cluster and have it rebuilt to cure the problems. Check the WEB for repair sources. They can also provide complete instructions on removal free of charge.

Hello Mike, I suspect you have a bad multi-function switch that operates your headlights, tail lights, turn signals, wipers and washers.

2000 Dodge Intrepid, when I turn on the car the lights flicker but it won't turn over. no clicking sound. The cd player starts making noises.

It sounds like the battery is flat, this could be because the alternator has not charged it or something has drained the battery or the battery is faulty! What lights are flickering? We're any dash lights on prior to you not being able to start the car?

I would check your fuse board for a loose fuse or wire to it from the battery as sometimes vibration loosens terminals eric

I have a 1999 dodge caravan. Passenger sign turn signal flashes for a short period & goes solid. Reverse light & brake light work just fine. Multifunction switch, light sockets, light assembly...

Sounds like the relay is burning out. When the lights stop flashing does the indicator on the dash light up and stay on and/or does the exterior lights light up and stay on? If the indicator light is staying on then you have a wiring problem to the lights or you have the wrong bulb/ bulbs. If the exterior lights stay on it is a bad relay or power to the relay.

Same problem

Check your fuses for wipers and lights. If good use a volt meter and check power at the fuse. If your wipers, radio and dash lights worked before you changed the nuetral safety switch I would retrace my steps and make sure I didn't leave something disconnected. It happens a lot. Let me know what you find.
