This is ALEX, the battery died on my 528 i 1998 65k cuz i was over seas working and i didn't unplug the battery on it when i was parking although my brother use to turn it on once a week but her didn't for two month and found the battery dead, so i had to change it and everything seems to work find and after few seconds the redio cut off, i restart the car and found that that screen in not working but the sound come on but cuts back off after 60 seconds and the signel lights indicator on the dash board stop working and no clicking sound on the inside but it works on the outside and the high beam indicator light on the dash board doesn't work too but it work on the outside but doesn't work when locking and unlocking the car with the remote controll or the key, i check all the fuses in both of the trunk and that glove compatrment and all of them were good, i took to get if diagnost at a locat dealer but they say that there was no codes and it needs to be recoded and they advice me to take to BMW dealer ship and i did while BMW spend all day with 630 dollars diagnost fees and they couldn't find anything but they say that there was something pulling the system down and it may be from the amlifire but they were not sure so i took out of BMW dealer and few hours later the ASB and the Traction control light came on and the reverse backing lights stop working,
i read some of the problems that some owners have online and i found all the problems but separates and i have them all and gthe selution was for all of the is to chat the ignition switch electrical part and i did chasge it and i got it from BMW following the installation instrcution that was mentioned on the bimmerboard.com http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/244045 but the problem still exict.
is there any other selution for this problem???????
Note: i notice that the car windshild fogs over night from the inside.

Hi Alex, your symptoms really do point to a failed electrical ignition switch. one possibility is that the dealer gave you the wrong part. there are actually 2 different electrical ignition switches. both will fit. just double check to make sure you have the right one. I would also try, removing the cluster and disconnecting, waiting, and reconnecting the plugs at the back. sometimes the electronics in the cluster can lock up.
