Loud grinding noise front end while driving. Hub bearing? Started a few weeks ago but not so extreme and usual only when turning. Now it is a loud metal grinding sound almost constant and seems to get worst when on slopes.

Probably so. When making a left hand turn, if the noise gets loader, it is the right side bearing. IE... putting more wieght on that side of the car.

You must replace wheel bearings in pairs to avoid loading the old bearing and, in time ruining your new bearing hub it is possible that you have already damaged the new hub

SOURCE: Loud grinding noise from front end

You can see the brake disc on the front wheels, Check both sides of each side, looking for scoring. Brake pads have wear insicators on them that are metal tabs that contact the rotor (disc) when pads get thin. It would be better to pull the wheels off to get a good look at the pads. Good luck

SOURCE: Rumbling & grinding under front end

Watch out! You might have a loose wheel! Check those wheel nuts. If not, a loose brake caliper, or last if not least, a bad wheel bearing. Don't drive it until you find out what the heck is wrong! Could be dangerous.

could be the power steering pump itself. If it has a bad bearing it will do that. Especially when you turn it makes the steering pump work a lot harder.

I would investigate the transfer case. By your description here it sounds as if the gears inside are worn and the drive chain inside is rubbing, causing the loud noise you hear.

The bearings should be inside the drum assembly. The brakes do not have to come off. The bearings may have to be pressed out if they are sealed type bearings.

The hub bearing is usually pressed in and can be pressed too much and damaged.
Also, you may want to check to see if your brakes are worn out on the front which could also be making this noise.
