SOURCE: i have a 1988 jaguar xj6 and the outside door

If you havent' already broken the door handles tugging on them, inside the door you will find a linkage with a tensioner adjustment. You need to tighten that linkage adjuster. You will find if you take off the inside door panel and pull the linkage manually the door retanier will actuate. The job is a PIA, and requires a couple of very long, very small box wrenches. Dont attempt to adjust the linkage without loosening the retaining nut, the linkage will shear right off, thus making the outer door handles permanently locked Good luck.

I have a 1988 Jaguar XJ6, when being drove it will not go over 25 mph and the rpms go up to an over 3000. I have checked my exhaust system and it is not clogged up. If the transmission has to be replaced...

I don't know where you are, but here in Aust. a lot of people swap the entire engine/trans for a Ford or Chev v8 and transmission. Fixing the Jag stuff is just too expensive.

I would check the trans fluid level and overall transmission condition first though.

I have a 1988 jaguar xj6. The car will not go into a drive gear, but it will go into reverse. Why? Please advise

first thoughts are check your auto transmission fluid level (with engine running with car on level ground) and linkage to gearbox.

No heat jaguar 88 xj6 fan wont turn on cool air out the defrost vent

I have the similar problem with both my Jaguars, one is a 1988 Jaguar XJS, the other is a 1987 Jaguar XJ6, both blow COLD air out some vents while it blows warm air for heat. I heard it had something to do with the cold air blowing as a dehumidifier, I don't know if this is true, but it is really annoying to have both cold and warm air blowing when I need heat in these cold Canadian winters. If you find out please drop this website a note and let us know how you solved it. thanks.
