Jeep won't start until a clicking sound comes from fuse box

I have no fuel pressure no spark until a clicking sound comes from the fuse box under the hood which starts fuel pump running fuel pump makes same clicking noise pressure comes right up and i then have spark and jeep starts right up. this clicking should be 1 click not 15 or 20 why? i have switched relays their not the problem. i changed heat/fuel sensor on the intake manifold. i'm thinking crank sensor or computor . anyone know? anyone know where crank sensor is on cherokee? this problem also seems to be worse in the morning when jeep is cold.

The click you hear is the fuel pump relay. It gets its signal to energize from the PCM.If you have a faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor, the PCM will not work. Check for a bad fuel pump relay and also all of the other sensors: Camshaft Position Sensor, MAP Sensor, Idle air Control, Intake Air Sensor, etc.

Repeated clicking generally indicates that you do not have a solid ground. Check both body ground and engine ground for good clean connections. Poor grounding oftem makes a relay act more like a buzzer than a relay...eventually arcing will make connection but it's not the kind you want.

My 1990 jeep won't start just turning-what are the possiability

under the hood you will find a fuse box that has a relay in it called an ASD relay.. its about one inch square. the lid of the fuse box will tell you witch one is the asd relay.. you can swap it with another relay in that box to see if the truck will start. if not check to see if you have spark and fuel pressure..

My 89 jeep cherokee won't. Start it will turn over

what motor? is the coil producing spark?? If so, check the fuel pressure, if the fuel pressure is low drop the tank, repace the pump and also replace the filter (located on the frame forward of the tank). If the coil is not producing spark, check for shorts or opens in the circuits as well as the IGN fuses. If there is NO fuel pressure at all check the fuel pump fuses and make sure the fuel pump is plugged in and there are no opens in the circuit

1993 jeep cherokee won't start

MAKE SURE DISTRIBUTOR CAP ,ROTOR, SPARKPLUGS AND WIRES, OKAY IF ALL HAS BEEN REPLACED.IF NOT GETTING SPARK PROBLEM COULD BE IGNITION COIL FAULTY, ASD RELAY FAULTY,DISTRIBUTOR WITH CAMSHAFT SENSOR FAULTY OR YOU HAVE FAULTY PCM. CODE SCAN VECHICLE FOR FAULT CODE, IF YOU ARE GETTING SPARK PROBLEM IN THE FUEL SYSTEM, CHECK FUEL PUMP RELAY AND FUSE MAKE SURE FUEL FILTER BEEN CHANGED AND FUEL PRESSURE IS 39 - 41 PSI. CHECK FOR FUEL SPARK SEE WHAT GOING ON, VECHICLE NEEDS FUEL OR SPARK TO RUN IF ONE NOT WORKING ENGINE WILL NOT START.

We have a 1993 jeep grand cherokee laredo it has and been running great until this weekend. Here's how it started, we where going down the road and then out of know where after driving around all day...

There is a relay box under the hood. See if the fuel pump relay is marked there and swap it with the A/C or horn relay. If this works to run the pump, buy a new relay. If not, please get back to me for troubleshooting procedures.

I was driving out of a parking lot and the engine just quit and now it won't start back up, it just cranks

If it cranks strong then it's probably not the battery/alternator/starter. Check the battery terminals to make sure they're clean. Cars need 3 things to start and run: fuel, spark, and compression. If it's just cranking it might be the fuel filter and/or pump. Could also be a fuel pump or PCM fuse or relay. Check your manual to find the locations of those in your fuse panel or in the fuse box under the hood. When you turn the key to on, before trying to start it, you should be able to hear the relays clicking. If you put a finger on it you should be able to feel it click (you'll need a friend for that). You should also hear the fuel pump pressurize when you turn the key to on before starting. It sounds like a humming sound that lasts about 3 seconds. If the relays don't click, that's probably you're problem. And if they do click and you can't hear the pump, then you'll probably need to replace the fuel pump and filter. If you hear the pump pressurize then you probably have electrical or spark problem. Hope that helps!

I have a 2000 jeep cherokee with the electronic ignition. It will crank but will not start. I have gas pressure. But dont know how to check for spark since It has the electronic ignition. Any help?

the best thing to do first is to find out if its spark or fuel problem.
spray some starter fuel into the intake system and see if the engine starts if not then there will be no spark.
check fuses in fuse box for any burt fuses.
