Brake light and turn signals

Just replaced right rear bulb for brake light. Now when I press the brake pedal, the brake lights come on, but both the front and rear right turn signals also light up.

SOURCE: 1998 wrangler turn signal/brake light short

your socket may not be grounded properly, I have seen this before, and the simplest way to fix is change the socket with a new one.Not another used one it may also be bad.

SOURCE: left rear turn signal and brake light dont work

You have a broken wire to the turn/brake light portion of the light as they use the same wire. Or where the plug goes into the light assy could be bad. Torsion mount lights are horrible and you should think about replacing with a universal light that you can wire direct.

SOURCE: Brake light and turn signal light not working

Did the new lens come with new sockets? If not damage may have occured there that you cant see. only other possibilty is wiring damage in the rear that may be hard to see. The condition you describe is simple "backfeeding" if you look hard enough youll either find bad sockets or damaged wires close to the lens that took the hit. Hope this helped. Thanks

SOURCE: turn signals blinking fast and stop when brakes applied

likely not, but change /check anyhow....If problem persists, likely you will need to change the module that controls directionals (usually under dash to the right of steering column)

Brake lights and rear turn signals dont work in my 2008 dodge charger

If both the brake lights and rear turn signals are not functioning in your 2008 Dodge Charger, there are several possible causes to consider. Here are some common issues that could lead to this problem:
1. Blown fuses: Check the fuse box for any blown fuses related to the brake lights and turn signals. A blown fuse can interrupt the circuit and prevent the lights from working. Refer to your vehicle's manual to locate the specific fuse for these functions and replace it if necessary.
2. Faulty bulbs: Inspect the bulbs in the brake lights and turn signals to see if they are burnt out or damaged. If a bulb is not working, it should be replaced. It's possible that multiple bulbs have failed simultaneously, leading to both the brake lights and turn signals not functioning.
3. Wiring issues: Check the wiring connections and harnesses for any signs of damage, loose connections, or corrosion. Faulty wiring can disrupt the electrical flow and prevent the lights from operating. Repair or replace any damaged wiring as needed.
4. Malfunctioning brake light switch: The brake light switch, located near the brake pedal, activates the brake lights when the pedal is pressed. If the switch is faulty or misaligned, it can cause the brake lights to not work. Consider having the brake light switch inspected and replaced if necessary.
5. Faulty turn signal relay: The turn signal relay controls the flashing of the turn signals. If the relay is defective, it can prevent the rear turn signals from operating. Consider replacing the turn signal relay if other potential causes have been ruled out.
If troubleshooting these common issues does not resolve the problem, it is recommended to consult a professional mechanic or authorized Dodge service center for a more accurate diagnosis and repair. They will have the expertise and necessary tools to pinpoint and fix the specific issue with your 2008 Dodge Charger's brake lights and rear turn signals.

Have a 89 ford ranger all lights work except brake lights. I replaced the switch, fuses are good and so are the bulbs. What else could be causing the brake lights not to work??

It could be the turn signal switch, since the brake wire travels through the turn switch after it leaves the brake switch and then goes to the bulbs. That is how you get a steady brake light on one side, and a blinking light on the turning side. The rear turn signal lights and brake lights share the same filament in the bulbs (and the same wire). The wire on the turning side has to first travel through the flasher relay.
If you have a test light, first check for power out of the brake light switch with the pedal depressed. Then check for power in and power out at the turn switch connector-power in on the brake light wire and power out on either of the wires going to the rear bulbs-if no power out, the turn switch is bad-brake pedal still depressed so you still have the signal.

98 chevy lumina Rear window break light works, but rear break lights don't, also right turn don't work?

I can almost 100% guaranty the turn signal switch is the problem. Power for the brake lights starts at the brake switch. power then splits from there and the third brake light gets power directly from the brake switch. Since the turn signal and the brake lights are on the same bulb power for the brake lights is routed through the turn signal switch. the switch depending on what position it is in will allow brake power or turn signal power to there respective left or right brake/turn bulbs.

If you hold your foot on the brake pedal and wiggle the turn signal and or play with the hazard switch the brake lights will almost always intermittently start to work. this will confirm a bad turn signal switch which is pretty common on GM vehicle with this style setup.

1994 Chevy C1500 truck. No rear brake lights

Most likely this is a brake light switch issue. Replace switch.

If your emergency flashers don't work, all flasher bulbs are fine, but flashing too fast, then check and replace Hazard light switch.

99 Chevy Tahoe... Rear turn signals, brake lights, and hazards

I had this problem, and to be honest, it happened to the left side about a week later...it's the board that the bulbs plug into...it's a very common problem with this model. So popular that you can normally get the socket board off the shelf at a parts store! it's extremely simple to replace, and I replaced all the bulbs at the same time!
