The moon roof on my 1996 saturn sl2 not working

The moon roof on my 1996 saturn sl2 seems to be off track. how do i fix it?

I have the same car and had the same problem, when you pull down the head liner you will find the motor for the moon roof. i disconnected the motor so that i could analyze it. i found that the gears in the moon roof motor are made of plastic and most of the gear teeth were chewed off. i disconnected the wireing harness from the motor and left it unplugged, i then pushed the moon roof back into position and tightened the screws to the moon roof. That is the way i left it for the past 2 years, because i was not about to spend the money t fix the motor.

This is a pretty common problem on GM cars. Expensive to fix, and even harder to diagnose. Read this info found on this link. It will help you understand the problem and offers some good solutions to beat this yourself. Bypassing this terrible system is a lot better than trying to have it fixed. Instead of paying the dealer mechanic to stumble thru the system and charge you for unwanted items, do this yourself.

I think you will find that these units fail from age and use. They are prohibitively expensive from a dealer, try saturnparts.net, I think over $400 each. But the same part was used until 1994 so you may find one at a junk yard, try 6thplanetautoparts.com. I found many available for my 94 on ebay and craigslist for under $50.00, a body shop can put them in for you but how long will a used part last?

Sounds like an output shaft bearing. In the trans. If it is you should hear it mostly in 3rd and 4th gear. Not a cheap repair, but really needs to be fixed.

What this code means is the trans is slipping, the most likely cause is internal parts failure or shift solenoid issue for 2nd gear, but based on what I know of this code you will end up getting the trans overhauled.
