The car will run ok till it gets warmed up good, then will stall or completely die if you slow down or come to a stop. Have replaced the spark plugs, had the egr vavlve circuit tested, ignition coil, ignition module tested, replaced the o2 sensor, new fuel filter.ran a can of fuel injector cleaner through gas tank. dont know what else to do. please help. is 18 year old daughters car and she cant drive it till i can trust it.
Sounds the EGR valve and EVP sen is bad even if you tested it. The EGR valve cntrols idle and if carbon up will make the car stall or idle high and low (rpms going up and down) This was common on all cars during that time. I would say replace the EGR valve and senosr. This should take care of the problem. One more thing have the fuel pressure check on the car.
Change the MAP sensor - solved same problem on my car
It's your TCC solenoid. If staring at the engine from the front bumper, it's connector is located right side nearest the front bumper right below the air filter case, unplug it and done. If the solenoid is failed then once the vehicle is warmed up it will shut down and run rough till it's cooled down. I know because of my 89 2.8l v6 Corsica had the same issue and unplugged it myself at 119,000 and still driving 3 years later with 130,000. Everyone forgets this solenoid exists. No one could help me with it when my 89 corsica did the same thing, I eventually figured it out myself and try to help everyone I can with this highly simple fix.
Here are the more common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle, it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and/or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving
