Fron first principles, the reverse movement of the motor is caused by reversing power polarity to the motor. If he motor runs in one direction and not the other then it isthe switch. It is not conecting power to the reverse contact. Check.replace switch.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 Buick

believe it of not the seats are cable driven there is a series of motors under the seat that have cables attached to them that goes to a series of transmissions, best guess is that the cables are broken that is why you hear the motors and nothing happens, remove the seat and turn it over and you will see the cables.....GOOD LUCK

My Seats do not move in my 1998 Buick Park Ave. Where can I find a replacement motor? If you move a button it just clicks.

Hello Rebecca Jones,

The lift & tilt motors seem to be available... but the forward back seems RATHER RARE...

You MIGHT WANT TO JUMP ON THE $85 one below!!

For parts you can check first on RockAuto.com (I'll put a link at the bottom)... NEVER-MIND ... I checked & got nothing!

Surprisingly... you can also find a really decent selection and competitive prices on AMAZON (I tried to demonstrate)...
Not there either...!!

But first find your part (pix) below... on the web... then look under your seat to see what you recognize... and check your local auto dismantlers (salvage yard).

Then check out eBay...
If you move quickly... and verify it is good or NOT GOOD
in the allotted time... eBay will protect your purchase...
Found one (see below... $85 free shipping.. good price:
(offer $60)).

If you are like I am... I buy that part... can't wait to start...

but in the MEAN-TIME I looked up my LINCOLN and found a TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN on MY SPECIFIC SEAT issue at BBB Industries (free tech bulletins & wiring diagrams... registration required)

Hope this helps!!

The driver side power seat button moves forward and backward and reclines, but wont move up or down, the seat is stuck all the way down so i cant get to the wrom gear underneath, how do i go about raising...

I am working on a replacement motor that will come with a new gear/shaft on it. I have one of my setups in the car right now and have the parts for another one ordered. I hope to make a video of the repair in a couple weeks when the parts show up. Still uses plastic gears, but these are larger, more durable gears and the swap is fairly straight forward with just a few modifications.

Power seat on driver side only goes forward and back . Tilt and up and down feature has stopped working already checked fuses and rattled the switch around encase it was jammed. No luck....any ideas

The power switch for your seat is a six way switch . It only has one power lead going into it . So , if forward and backward work then you have power to the switch . Would you need to do is try the up and down control while listening closely . If you hear a clicking noise but nothing else when you energize the switch you probably have a bad vertical control motor . If you hear a motor running right after the clicking noise and you probably have a bad control cable which goes between the motor and the vertical gear . If you don't hear anything at all when you activate the switch up and down , I would suspect a bad switch .

My front seat in my 1998 buick park avenue will not move forward nor back, is there a relay for this?

Hi! If it has switch control, then most likely it has a Fuse or Relay... emergency fuses is located by the driver seat left foot,
under the dashboard. The Controler fuses or relay is most likely located under the hood by the driver side or near by the car battery... You may also want to check the motor relay or the motor it self, sometimes this will cuase the problem that the motor is no longer generating power. Check the Manual for fuses guide or fuses ampers. best of luck.

Glad to help.
Ginskie.

How do I fix a 1995 buick park avenues front seat motors?

I had that problem with the motor for seat back tilt.
I had to remove the seat and take the cables out of the motor and connect the drive cables to 2 drills one in forward and one in reverse. I lubricated the threaded shafts and the drive unit with WD40 then ran the drills back and forward till it started moving again. then I lubed again with more wd40 and ran seat back all the way forward and back many times. reassembled and tested the motor by connecting 12 volt cordless drill batery to the motor to verify it is now working.
The problem that I am now having is no power to the drivers side and do have power on pasenger side, think they are the same fuse. Need schmatic/wire diagram to continue my trouble shooting . This should help with yours. test each motor with the cordless drill battery. reverse polarity to reverse direction.

Black plastic channel guide under my driver seat in 2003 Park Ave

Well, I would say the seat might not glide easily back and forth. But, it may still work. I guess worst case is the seat motor could overheat and maybe "fry?".

I would take it out and see how the seat moves back and forth. If there's noticeable difference, I would pursue trying to get this part back in place.

Power seat on drivers side of 1996 buick park ave. wont go in reverse every ting else works ok

Chances are one of the motors has gone out. There are 3 motors for each of your power seats. One controls the forward/backward motion, one controls up/down/tilt, and the third controls the reclining seat back. In my '95 model, there is one fuse for the seats under the driver's side dashboard. There should be a diagram inside the fuse panel cover denoting which one controls the seats. Hope that helps!
