You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

2008 gmc sierra speaker

I have a 2008 Silverado and noticed my chime was not working. They work off the front door speakers. Found out GM put the cheapest speakers on the market in them. Bought a new pair of Kenwood speakers from Crutchfield and installed them last week. They sound great. I will probably install Kenwood's in the rear doors since it's only a matter of time before they die too.

How to replace rear door speakers for 1997 GMC jimmy

I think your GMC have in-door rear speakers.!!
  • Look for screws in door panel or around the speaker vents.
  • If you are sure that the speaker cant be removed without opening the door panel then read this below.
  • Mostly seen near areas like door lever(inside), power window switch set, bottom and each sides of the whole panel.
  • If its manual window, then look for a circle clip in between the winding window lever and the door panel. Plunge screw driver between them a make a gap then look.
  • Assure that all clips or screws which obstacles the removal of the panel.
  • Simply pull the panel from sides towards you
  • If its completely open, then locate the speaker and unscrew it.
  • Check the connection wires for quality
  • Mostly its good to scratch the leads of the wire to remove copper oxide layer
  • Take the new speaker, check the holes on the door matching the speaker's
  • If needed, drill hole for screw and be sure that the new speaker is not more than 15cm diameter.
  • Connect the leads, fix the speakers.
  • Check the sound clarity with your car audio on.
  • If everything is perfect.. go on , fix the door panels
  • Mainly sure with the side clips of the panel, do not bent or break them.
  • Check for any balance parts or screws.
  • Screw everything back as normal.
  • You just installed a new speaker....
  • pls rate it!!
