Misfires on 1997 Hyundai Elantra!!!

Replaced coil pack and new plugs. Codes of p0301-4 stating all 4 cylinders misfiring and another code saying possible gas cap and possible vacuum leak. Car starts fine, but is very lumpy, then when you try to drive, it gets worse and stumbles, hesitates, lumpy dont wanna pull itself hardly especially on an incline of any sorts. Gas cap seems fine. Car was just purchased off an individual, ran fine then next day BAM. From front of vehicle which way do you count cylinders 1-4 from left to right or right to left? Seen 2 different diagrams stating 2 different things. I have it the way it was originally from left to right 1-4. Don't know where to go from here. It is missing something fierce. Please help. Thx.

Dude, first relax. All problems can be solved and fixed. My 97 elantra just went through this exact situation. My fuel filter was old and probably original to the car, it started to fall apart and one by on e my injectors started to clog. The first mechanic replaced #2 and a week later it happened again. This time a dealer replaced #4. Days later it happened again. I learned to take the fuel rail apart and bought 2 used injectors from the junk yard for 10 bucks. The car runs like a top. Is the idiot light flashing nat you? If so its the injectors. And the evap code is probably a red herring, Ive not been able to find my small leak yet. Good luck.

P0301 is missfire at number 1 cylinder from drive belt side of motor, usually theres a small hole in wire booth going to plug in valve cover, spark arks on cover wall.p0300 code is usually a random miss fire on all 4 cyl.,from your comment,im assuming its the evap.syst.u can check for damaged hoses from canister, located in frt left wheel well,to access it,remove the inner fender panel.hope it helps!

What causes engine misfires to stay after new plugs and coil packs?

Try swapping the coil packs around - like swap #1 with #2, and swap #6 with #5, see if the misfires MOVE with the coil packs swapped to the new cylinders or if they stay with the cylinders. If they move with the coil packs, the new coil packs are bad. If they stay with the cylinders, there's a problem with those cylinders. You DID replace that camshaft sensor, right?

Have you checked your #1 and #6 injectors?

Look at fuel trim on a professional scanner

You still have the same codes for the same cylinder
misfires,IF the codes are correct

The misfires could come from valve issues, the valves themselves
or the variable cam actuators if that applies,or from fuel issues, but
not as likely on all three cyl on same bank

You need to do a cylinder leak down test on all cylinders--to eliminate mechanical issues

Then a cylinder contribution test electrically with scope software

Then scope the timing events, the cam advance events, the crank
position, all layered on the same screen & see if they line
up where they belong.

If the cams are not the issue, then your left with a serious vacuum
leak in the intake on one bank.

What I'm saying, is you have one bank with misfires apparently
not now from the ignition since the coils were replaced

2002 elantra cyl 2 random misfire

Hi there:A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why.

For example, a P0302 code means that the the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #2; same condition in P0301 - cyl #1, P0303 - cyl #3 and P0304 - cyl #4.

A code P0300 (or 301, 302, 303 or 304) may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty spark plugs or wires
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector(s)
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
Faulty camshaft position sensor
Defective computer

About your possible solutions, if there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open.

Hope this helps.

97 blazer is missing from take off at 1000rpm to 2000 then clears out code reader says o2 sencor and multable engine missfire

For the misfires, start by pulling your plugs. They either need to be cleaned or replaced if questionable. Then, you may have a bad coil or coil pack. You can test them with a multi-tester-you'll want resistance values that are specific for your vehicle. Alternatively, you can switch the coil packs around (if you know you have a good one from knowing which cylinders are misfiring and which are firing o.k.) If your misfires change cylinder numbers from swapping, you know you had a bad coil. Other possibilities for misfire could be the electronic ignition module or the pick-up coil inside the distributor(if you even have a distrib.)
FYI: code for o2 sensor means that circuit has a malfunction, may be the sensor itself, or a wiring problem. Good luck.

Engine code states cylinder 2 misfire. Replaced

sounds like a bad injector, just connection at the injector, also check for leaks at intake, one more thing , do a compression test on that cylinder start there, good luck.

2000 elantra misfire code and slow

The first thing you should do is check the voltage to the coil. the voltage should be around 12 or 13. If their is then the coil could be bad. Buying new spark plugs and wires would not hurt. Try replaceing them first, then the coil.

Please let me know if your problems presist.

Thanks, Charlie

Audi A6 Misfires

You may have a coil pack going bad. They're on the front top of the engine - you'll see them if you follow the spark plug wires back. Do you have any codes from having the engine scanned? If you can get it scanned (AutoZone will do it free), post the codes up and we'll see which cylinder(s) are misfiring. From there, you can swap coilpacks around and see whether the misfires follow the packs or stay in the original cylinders. If they move, you have a bad coil pack or two. If they don't, since you've already changed plugs and wires, I'd see about having the injectors diagnosed to see if any of them are failing.
