Engine roaring above 30mph

Is it possible you are hearing a wheel bearing instead of the engine or exhaust ?
Normally a bearing will roar on a turn and not on a straight stretch, but I guess its possible to do it the other way. A tire will make a roaring noise too.
I can't think of anything related to the engine that would roar only on a turn except maybe the power steering.

Roaring noise with my 2006 Chevy Cobalt?

while the wheel bearings still feel tight they are the cause of your problem, after a collision most cars suffer from this problem depending on the speed of the accident the forces encountered during a sudden stop causes intense stress and fatigue on the bearings

2001 Chevrolet Cavalier front End Roar

You must replace wheel bearings in pairs to avoid loading the old bearing and, in time ruining your new bearing hub it is possible that you have already damaged the new hub
