Bump/Crunch sounds when I hit bumps in the road--2001 PT Cruiser

The popping sound could be UV joints. But hard to tell if one cannot hear them. Worse case scenario, transmission going. The squeaking sound is probably your struts. The upper strut bearings are probably worn, and that could mean the struts are worn too. Depends on the mileage on your vehicle. The springs twist when under stress and this is what the upper bearing is for. In good shape, it would not make any sounds.

This car is now 12 years old.Have you ever changed the trans fluid?(We tend to neglect these things due to so many"maintainence free" features on today's cars.) If your'e going to bother changing it,try a synthetic lube.(Verify the fluid type in the owner's manual-some use ATF,some use motor oil,some may even still call for gear oil).Or,did someone possibly put gear oil in it,intead of the correct fluid?(I did this on my 95 Dodge Dakota!)

Still sounding like a bushing, but it also could be related to a strut. I have tried this in the past....jack the car up and ONLY on one side first, use WD-40 and spray each of the bushings well. Leave the upper strut area alone...do your normal driving. If you still have the squek/crunch, etc, spray the upper strut area. A rare ocassion it can be the upper strut mount.

I have a pt cruiser myself and love it but they have a problem with lower control arm bushings that wear out allowing the control arm to drop and smack on the sub frame. For the most part this is not dangerous unless the bushings are completely deteriorated.Also sway bar link pins rattle when they get worn. This is the lesser of two evils for the fix is alot cheaper i hope this helped:)

CHECK YOUR BATTERY LEADS EITHER ON THE BATTERY OR THE EARTH WIRE TO ENGINE AND CHASSIS OR FEED WIRE TO STARTER MOTOR
unless you have a fuse or relay jumped out
but you must have been going fast for that.....

Sounds like suspension. Does the steering wheel **** when you hear this sound?

You need your brakes replaced all around.

you CV joints are going bad.  you need to have them checked and replaced.  Rebuilt units are availabe.

This is either caused by a wore out strut/shock in the rear of the car or a broken spring.
