2007 Chrysler Town and Country whirring sound and battery light on

My 2007 Chrysler Town & Country's battery light came on then started making a loud whirring sound from the engine. All I need to do is start up the vehicle for the noise to begin, and the light comes on about a minute later. Would that be an alternator problem or something else?

Remove the belt and see how much play is on the alt pulley sounds like a bearing wearing out.

SOURCE: Whirring sound after long drives 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

It is your power steering pump. The solution is to replace the P/S fluid resevoir and fill or flush the system.

SOURCE: Van won't start. Just makes a clikcing noise. Horn sounds weak.

THIS IS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE STARTER MOTOR SOLENOID, REMOVE AND REPLACE THE STARTER OR JUST REPLACE THE SOLENOID ON TOP OF THE STARTER IF YOU CAN BUY IT SEPERATE.

SOURCE: 2003 Chrysler Town & Country, put in new alternator, now have 2 lights on including battery and one looking like a pump. Radio won't work.

Hello
The reason the battery light is on is that the charging system voltage is below the battery voltage, this means the charging system is not working correctly, since you already replaced the Alternator for I assume the same problem, unless you got a defective rebuilt (which is poss if bought from Autozone or one of the other discount parts stores) the charging system problem is not the Alternator but lies elsewhere in the electrical system. Use a volt meter and check the voltage at the battery cables with the engine running at high idle (at least 1000 RPM) the voltage should be at least 13.4 to about 14.2 Volts DC. This is also most likely the cause of the light that is on that you say looks like a pump due to the low charging system voltage. As to the radio it is in theft lock, this happens anytime the battery is disconnected, you will need to enter the unique security code for your radio, if you are not the original owner this may be a problem, as the little card with the code and the instructions to enter it often gets misplaced. You will likely end up at the dealer who can access the Chrysler factory computer and retrieve the code, there may be a charge for this.

2007 Chrysler town and country. Battery light came on and a whirring sound came from the engine compartment.

If it's a rapid machine gun like clicking it is probably the starter motor dying. Wiggling the wire suggests an electrical earth issue. Disconnect the battery. Disconnect the starter motor wire at the engine end and rub the two faces that touch with fine sandpaper. Refit the wire and the battery.
You should also get the alternator and battery tested as the battery light and heater issues could be due to a charging or battery problem.

2007 chrysler town & country has a rough idle but drives smooth what could it be

If it idles rough it runs rough, you just don't
notice it

You can start anywhere you want

If you haven't changed spark plugs in 3 years do that

Replace any front or upstream O2 Sensors over 100,000 miles

Check fuel pressure, tps sensor voltages, check for loose air
filter cover,vacuum leaks,loose O2 sensor,just go thru the
entire engine,it obviously needs work & I will bet it hasn't seen
much & you don't know what is done when you ask & pay
for work.
May sound harsh but many shops aren't there to resolve problems,
they throw on as many parts as the people on this site do at home,
from the questions is see here, dealers guess as well and don't road
test,kind of sad really

1996 Chrysler Town & Country won't start

If you have fire, then it's probably a fuel problem. Turn the key to the on position, you should hear a 'whirring' sound from the gas tank, which is the fuel pump. This sound will only last a few seconds , but should indicate that the fuel pump is working. If no sound, check the fuel pump fuse, fuel pump relay, and the fuel pump itself . Good luck.
