2003 Hyundai Santa Fe Lost power now won't start

I lost power driving down the freeway in my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe and had to manuever over to the side of freeway before it stopped. Now it will not start. It sounds like it will but it just doesn't start up. It is not out of gas. What could be the problem?

Sounds like the timming belt jumped or broke. A faulty crank sensor could also be at fault.

When asking a question about a problem with your vehicle you should always state your vehicles od reading and engine size, thanks.

My 2003 sante fe lost power while driving. Acts like a car with a bad alternator, however, after charging the battery it still acts the same. Now will struggle to go more than a few blocks before losing...

Sounds like the alternator is bad. You can take it to Advanced Auto Parts or Autozone, and they will test both the alternator and battery for FREE. If the battery was bad, the car usually won't turn off once started because the car will be running off the alternator. Not to say I havn't seen a battery do that, but it is rare. To me it is the alternator. Plus, Autozone or Advance Auto will have your alternator in stock.

Power steering is stiff on 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe and it is making loud noise. We checked the fluid and it is full.

hi you have checked p/steering fluid have you checked the pump drive belt ? it may be loose/worne out and in need of replacement? also more important ? when did you last check tyre pressures honestly ??? these are the 1st things to check at least weekly ? considering age of vehicle and probable milage? if the belt/s have not been renewed ? might be worth doing? before failure when you are on freeway ? you can diy belts saving $$$$s garage cost/labour charge and you can purchase from most good motor stores/factors instead of dealers prices ?
