Various seals & gaskets will inevitable leak. Gen, they do not affect engine operation & will not damage engine. Simply keep ample oil supply in engine. Then the solution to oil leak problem is installation of an ''ENGINE DIAPER" device that catches, absorbs, and keep oil leak off ground surfaces. I don't know where it is; however, my husband and I have purchased 2 cooling fan assemblies for my 2004 Jaguar x-type 3.0 AWD. Neither of them would turn on. We have since been advised by a Jag mechanic that you must have a part called the link lead in order for the fans to work properly. This is a non-admitted (by Jaguar) default in this car. What would be even more amazing would be if you were to bother mentioning WHICH ENGINE your Cavalier is equipped with. If it is a 4-cylinder engine (most likely) the firing order is 1-3-4-2.
If the boot is split you will have to take apart the ball joint in order to fit a new boot. It is a good time to see if there is any play in the ball joint.
If all is ok fit the new boot after greasing the joint.
