I have a 04 Alero and while driving it the dash went out and my stereo went off, then on. I stopped at a gas station and turned it off and went to start it again and it wouldn't start. The security light flashes but I tried waiting the ten minutes and that didn't help. I have had the battery disconnected, all the injectors checked and the fuel pump is only a few months old and is good. Fuses checked, a new fuse block was also put in a couple months ago. Do these cars have a chip in the key? I also had numerous wires check and they all seemed fine. A new coil pack just put in and that worked but as soon as the car was shut off it wouldn't start again. I need help!! Please anyone

Check the Main Relay and it's fuse.
Hope this helps.
Sound like theft security problem.when you try ten minutes did you leave ignition switch on position for ten minutes until the security light turn off then turn off ignition switch for 5 seconds then try starting vechicle.when you do 10 minute trick security light has to turn off or disappear when you see security light go off turn off switch 5 seconds then try starting vechicle.

Hi, I just read somewhere on the WWW that the crank sensor and or fuse can be a issue. I too have a 2002 Alero.. Worst car I have ever owned!

Does it crank at all or is there nothing when you turn the key? If the resistor chips in the key(s) are bad, they shut down the fuel system for 3 minutes and it won't crank. I've had this happen and the problem was solved when I got new keys.

Try disconnecting the electrical connector at the transmission and see if it stall when you put it in gear. You will get a service engine light, but not to worry, it will go back out once you reconnect.
By disconnecting the wire connector we can tell if it is transmission related.
Good luck, let me know.
