Reset anti theft device

Hi. ihave a 99 lasabre, and my security light has been on for some months now. the car was driving fine until today it would not start, just a single click when itried to start it. lights work radio etc. i jus installed an amp and box about a week ago. been having some wiring issues, nothing major. and i also had remote wire connected windshield wiper fuse. the other day i had the radio playing for about 2 hours with igntion turned backwards. car wouldnt start had to get a jump. it started. the next day i was messing with amp power cord, removed it from battery n put it on a screw over top of relay box under the hood n needed a jump again. it started right up. can u tell me whats going on?

If the key has chip in it ohm it and find the orange wire under column it has 2 small wires in it soldering a resisted into the 2 that goes away from switch will bypass security.remember to just cut them at the small plug it should be black

Take you car to autozone and let them check the battery and stuff and tell them to do a load test and post it on here

Any chance your vehicles have a security/alarm system. Disconnecting battery on some, will arm it sometimes & not allow it to run. Using key to unlock door, on driver & passenger side have been known to work on some vehicles, but if not, a call to dealer should help.

Hi! You may need not to replace the ignition switch. Pretty much a PCM (powertrain control module) failure. The PCM has connectivity on all electrical current that runs inside the car including the engine, transmission, etc... You will need to have the PCM resetted for it to work for when the PCM is faulty the electrical current fails. HOpe this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Can you please detail it...

Your car probably have an immobiliser kit with the security system
This cuts off the engine during a start under the hood
This kills the power from the ignition point
The keys may be code protected
Check whether your security system is still active even if the doors are open!!
Try to click the the unlock\ lock button simultaneously, when the doors are open
Its better to remove the fuse of the security system and cut it off

2006 Pontiac G6 anti theft triggered. A locksmith made a new key car, but cranks no start.

You probably need to do a key relearn procedure. Turn the key to the ON position for 15-20 minutes until the security light goes out. Then turn the key off and back on again until the security light goes out. You need to repeat this 3 times, then once again turn the key off and back on, this time the security light should light and go out after its 3 second check. Now the car should start normally.

How to reset anti-theft on a 2000 alero

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. 99 mercury cougar wont crank no spark anti theft light flashing

a bad security system would restrict the ignition system from activating so the engine may be perfectly fine but until the security system give it the ok, its gonna sit. have someone take a look at the security system and see if they cant fix the system or deactivate it (what use is a security system if your car wont start right?)

This might be the anti theft security system. when this happens, look all around the dash for a light that says "security". One of the symptoms of a failed GM anti theft is....... I am having the same issue with my anti-theft device in my 2003 Alero. Last year it stopped running and would not turn-over. $400 later, Brakemax said they just had to reset the anti-theft device. oK,...

the shop that told you they ripped it out only ripped you off unless they removed some aftermarket alarm system i,m a gm mechanic and if you remove the factory anti-theft on a 2003 olds alero it will not run ever again until re-installed make sure your battery is charged good turn igntion switch to run position but do not try to start security light should be flashing let car sit with switch on and light flashing for ten minutes light should stop flashing now start your car this is how to reset anti-theft was that worth $400.00 and again why let a bussiness named brakemax look at a no start condition keep on and you will be BROKE to the max HOPE THIS HELPS AND STAY AWAY FROM THEM YOUR FRIEND @ HELPMAX

I have had a similar problem with mine. The repair shop is telling me there is oil seeping into the alternator and shorting it out. I am going to soo if I can put some sort of shielding around it to prevent this.

99 chevy cavalier theft system light on steady, car wont crank.

My 2000 cavalier has done this for 6 months. You take your key out then open your door, wait ten minutes and the system resets itself and the car will start-annoying you bet!!!
