Hyundai santa fe ac problem

Smelled a burning smell while AC was running full blast while car was in park for couple mins idling. Now ac only blows warm/hot air that's it. Also engine has whooping sound constantly (you'd really have to hear it to know what I mean) but didn't know if that was related.

SOURCE: need instructions on removing hyundai santa fe 01 fan belt ac

its your serpentine belt (thats what its called) and you will need a 3/8 ratchet and then find the belt tensioner. The tensioner has a spot where you need to put the ratchet into and pull or push depending on whatever way and that will releive the pressure off the belt so you can take it off.

Most likely the A/C system needs to be recharged with freon.
Most shops charge under $50 for this service.

Hyundai said the dash needs to come out to replace the evaporator but I have been told by 2 others it can be done by removing the glove box and getting to it from there, and mine was done this way.

Engine and AC fans start spinning

If that is the same thing as Defrost, the compressor will run even if the ac button is off. The compressor runs to dry the air blowing on the windshield.

04 Santa Fe burning smell running ac....

Sounds like the A/C compressor clutch has overheated and become inoperable. Open the hood, start engine, observe the compressor face. It should be turning and also see if that's where the noise and burning smell is coming from.
Good luck!!!

There is a high pressure relief valve on the compressor to avoid over filling the system and locking up the compressor, or blowing a A/C hose, ect.,
You need a set of gauges to do it right (connected to high and low ports) then read this.
