412 Hi, I have a 1999 410 Sprinter with a 2.9 litre diesel engine.The injector pump was recently reconditioned and after it was refitted and the timing set the engine started and ran for afew days.It will turn over but not fire now, even though there is diesel at the 5 injectors.Any ideas, Sean

indicates faulty injectors
have they reconditioned and calibrated by an accredited diesel specialist shop

have you bled the air out of the injector lines or out of the injector pump
look in e-bay --type in injector pumps for onan diesel engine-- and see what is available
go google and type in --injector pump for onan diesel engine model 8000--and see are there are any diesel repair businesses with sirs for new and reconditioned pumps

cracking an injector line relieves pressure to that injector and if it made no difference it could be from a couple of things
if no fuel dripped from the nut then there is air in that line and it should be left loose until fuel drips from the nut
if you have fuel dripping from the nut and there is no difference then that indicates a faulty injector
cracking 2 and 4 and the engine stopped indicates that 3 also is in trouble
Basically I would be taking the injectors back to a specialist diesel shop for a re-calibration and new tips rather that reconditioned tips
next --when dealing with injectors and injector pipes , if the pipes have been removed and allowed to sit around for a while , they can collect dust from the fuel still in the pipes and so before fitting they should be blown out with compressed air as that small speck of dust can jam the injector needle and prevent operation
The engine is running (albiet at low performance ) but it is running so that would indicate that any mechanical work done is ok and the problems are in the fuel deliver system--injectors and pump
if the pump has been removed the low performance could also be from pump timing so have that rechecked
if it is an inline pump ( where all the pipes come out of the top ) there is a simple procedure to check and adjust the timing accurately and if it is a rotary ( distributor) type pump with the lines from the back end , thee is a special tool and a dial gauge that is used to set the timing accurately
SO being a dealer and a reputation for reliable equipment is essential for your business I would suggest that you now bring in an accredited specialist diesel fitter to tune the fuel system
as to the stop system , a cable is as good as a solenoid as it only stops the fuel and is not part of the problem

Check the injectors one is sticking open or maybe more are.

This is not an injector problem, you mush have something else going on. Have the dealer test the system electronic controls.

Are you sure that you don't have a diagram on any area around your engine you might look for one that would show you how to run it!

I thing you repaired old injection pump and injectors
Have you check the pressure from the pump can open the injectors?
I-loose the all injector main pipe from the injection pump only injectors side
2-try to crank the engine just start while engine moving if you see diesel pressure where you loose means injection pump looks good, try to fixed all the pipes while engine cranking if the engine refuse to star injectors needs to resit correct opening pressure.
3-check the injectors pressure follow instruction manual book.
4-Check is any leaks all connections.
5-Check engine compression.

hi, yes you can,cant remember exact figure think its 0.9mm, use the bolt above where the spline enters the block to adust the timing by ear-give merc a ring for the exact dial gauge setting as it is different for each engine.
