Check out the idle speed control. If it's defective/stuck/etc. it can cause problems like this. I've only have experience with the device in older cars with the older models of the idle control so i'm not sure exactly the specifics of the newer ones, else i'd help more.

I have a 2000 Jaguar S Series that won't disingage from park to any gear??? Car runs won't come out of gear ???

Check the obvious first. Is the fluid in the transmission at the correct level and the correct type for the car? Does it smell burnt ? Move on to the mechanicals. Is the linkage that controls the transmission operating? On to the electricals. Do all the connections to the transmission seem intact? Any missing connections? Burnt wires? If all the above appear to be correct then the trouble lies inside the transmission.

Hi wonder if you can help, I have a problem with an s type 2000 model, the engine runs rough & wont run above two thousand 500 rpm also the engine at tickover oscillates up & down & someti

ideally you need to connect it to an analyser, engine technology is becoming a pain in the proverbial, it could be anything from a failed fuel pump. (low pressure) to computer (engine management) problem, if you have checked for the obvious, vaccuum hoses etc, diagnostic is in the long term the easiest, quickest and most cost effective route. I suspect Fuel pump, check manual for pressure testing fuel delivery.

My 1997 ford f150 starts fine, but has a high idle while stopped usually about 1200. Sometimes the idle will drop to about 400 and the truck almost stalls. Help?

To be honest no idea with my head under the bonnet and having a play to see whats wrong ,could be anything from a vacumn pipe to faulty sensor .

Have a 2000 jaguar s type, the check engine light comes on and sometimes flashes when car is put through car wash or it rains also will misfire and run rough and idle rough, what is the problem?

You have an exposed electrical source and/or a fan belt that is slipping when it get wets. When the belt slips, voltage drops and ignition is very voltage sensitive. Check you fan belt if it seems loose and or glazed (smooth)

Car is boging out in park and will not go over 3000 rpm in park and throttle all the way to floor. also i get the scent of burned oil coming from underhood. on a 2000 jaguar s type

If it only stops at 3000 rpm in park, it probably has a governor to prevent you from revving it over 3000 rpm with no load on it. That isn't very good for engines. As long as it goes over 3000 while driving, don't worry about it.
