Wiring for a trailer

I got a new trailer plug from ford, but no power for the lightsMy 06 4WD escape came with a class 2 hitch but no wires. I bought a wire kit from the local hitch shop and plugged it in the factory wires under the bumper. I am getting no power to any of the pins. Whats going on here?

There is no such fuse in that box. There is one marked trailer tow park lamps in the interior fuse box but it has no connectors in it.

My 09 Ford Escape has no parking lights. The fuse is good. I've recently mounted a hitch and put wire taps on for trailer lights. No bare wires or anything visible.

If they worked before you wired the trailer in just go back and check your work. It may be a simple mistake made or a loose wire. Leave the lights on and do a wiggle test on your connections, good luck!

I am looking for Ford truck guys who can tell me where I might get this 4wire trailer hitch plug. I'm wanting the exact one in video. It came stock with truck. Also wanting to know which wires are for

You can get this from Wal-mart it is common. To install a trailer package wire harness is not complicated. First you have to determine how many wires, first you have the running lights, that should be a brown wire that's 1 in the system next you have the right turn signal and then the left signal, that is 3 wires and the white wire is for the ground from the trailer to the car. Using a test light probe each wire from the car and match it with the connector to the trailer

Some people wire trailer plugs differently. If the plug is not wired differently than yours, make sure the tow ball is clean. No rust. That's where the trailer gets its ground from. Usually they will work if thats the case, but not right. I can't remember what the wire colors are right now. Go to etrailer and look up the diagram.

Does anybody know how to wire a towbar wiring unit to a ford escort 1999?

Wiring the vehicle for towing is fairly easy. There are a number of good wiring kits available and these should be used, rather than trying to design your own.

All trailers will need brake lights and turn signals as well as tail lights and side marker lights. Most areas require extra marker lights for overwide trailers. Also, most areas have recently required back-up lights for trailers, and most trailer manufacturers have been building trailers with back-up lights for several years.

Additionally, some Class I, most Class II and just about all Class III and IV trailers will have electric brakes. Add to this number an accessories wire, to operate trailer internal equipment or to charge the trailer's battery, and you can have as many as seven wires in the harness.

Determine the equipment on your trailer and buy the wiring kit necessary. The kit will contain all the wires needed, plus a plug adapter set which includes the female plug, mounted on the bumper or hitch, and the male plug, wired into, or plugged into the trailer harness.

When installing the kit, follow the manufacturer's instructions. The color coding of the wires is usually standard throughout the industry. One point to note: some domestic vehicles, and most imported vehicles, have separate turn signals. On most domestic vehicles, the brake lights and rear turn signals operate with the same bulb. For those vehicles without separate turn signals, you can purchase an isolation unit so that the brake lights won't blink whenever the turn signals are operated.
One, final point, the best kits are those with a spring loaded cover on the vehicle mounted socket. This cover prevents dirt and moisture from corroding the terminals. Never let the vehicle socket hang loosely; always mount it securely to the bumper or hitch.

You can check HERE details about this part for Escort and any "graphics".

Hope help.

Wiring for a trailer

Check owners manual for fuse locations and check them first. Some vehicles have seperate trailer light fuses.
