Just bought this car and unfortunately I just found out the rear cargo door doesn't open, it feels like it doesn't even touch the latch or anything, can anyone help?

there will be a screw behind the rubber this holds the handle in., if the door has not been used much, greaseing the mechanism may solve this

SOURCE: Rear Window Switch Problem with Mk3 VW Golf 1.9TD

i had the same problem. After checking the window motor was not the problem i then checked the wiring harnes in the door. I beeped out all the connectors to make sure there were no broken wires and cleaned up all the contacts. The main connector looked quite corroded. I sprayed all the connectors with rust check and reassembled. The window is working fine now

SOURCE: rear door panel

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

SOURCE: how to change drivers door latch on vw golf sdi

Have you tried using WD-40 to help the lock from sticking you may not need replace it.
However if you feel it's necessary ...you need to remove the inside door panel with the window up remove the two bars that are you inner lock and door handle levers a plastic clip holds them into place on the lock itself .a drop light is very helpful once the levers are disconnected remove the outer screws on the door itself the lock should fall off from the inside at this point ...install new lock and reinstall rods { levers} to the lock itself test before reinstalling door panel then secure when confident it works properly

2003 VW GOLF REAR door wont open

The rear door lock actuator has failed in the door locking unit this is a common problem you can manually unlock the door to replace the latch if you didn't have the deadlocking on if you cant try pressing the locking button twice so when the car is locked the flashing red light is not blinking ie off on the drivers. Doing this usually causes the faulty lock to release the dead locking so you can pull the inside handle to unlock the door.

Vw golf mk4 my rear passenger door willnot open with central locking key system. i can't even open it from the inside, pull the door handle and the lock pin rises but door won't open. i believ

This worked for me on 2008 Mk5 Golf, after the rear passenger door would not open fro outside or inside.

Hold the inside door latch open and keep it extended, then with the key fob open and close the door locks (still holding the inside latch open). Keep locking and unlocking the door, then it made a kluck and it released.

There's a bent rear suspension component, or if ypou're really unfortunate the mounting points to the bodyshell are misaligned following an impact. Take the car to a crash repair body shop and ask them to take measurements, you can then work out what the work and cost are and whether it's a job you can do yourself.

My VW Golf (2001) leaks when it rains, leaks above my sun guard, around the sun roof & rear pannel on the drivers door. Why?

the weather striping sounds like it needs to be replaced they get brittle and dont seal as they should next time you go out to look at it see if there are any cracks or if it is hard and worn it also could have just simply slid and if thats the case most times you can slide it back

Rear doors will not open with key for my vw golf

There was a recall on this type of problem. A plastic piece would break off and jam the rod not allowing the doors in the back to open. If you are not the first owner the first step would be to see if this recall applies to your car and get it fixed for free.
