My brake pedel goes solid so it cant be applied...This is an intermittant problem that has happened randomly I have taken it to a cpl of garages that cant find a problem?
Tried that one, put a new valve on just in case but it's made no difference at all :o( It's also had new discs (last yr) and the brake fluid checked on its MOT all to no avail... Thanks for the suggestion tho!Tried that one, put a new valve on just in case but it's made no difference at all :o( It's also had new discs (last yr) and the brake fluid checked on its MOT all to no avail... have vehicle scanned for trouble code possible abs sensor or hub going bad --when abs goes out you still have standard / conventional brakes [ means if you slam on brakes they will lock /skid ] but your brakes will work normal
there is still air in the lines and that can be from a master cylinder that has an air lock and is not allowing fluid to pump
Take it to an accredited brake specialist for diagnosis and brake bleed
when bleeding the brakes , it is a 2 person operation and each line ( starting at the longest line is operated until only solid fluid comes out when the bleed screw is operated
yes but up to a point
the brake pedal should move about 1" to take up the pedal free play and then be applied smoothly as you press further
the harder you press the more solid stopping action you will get
that way you can feel the brakes working so that you can adjust the braking action for stopping
there should be no hissing noise that occurs when the brakes are being applied
you say hydro booster which is hydraulic booster but a hissing noise will come from an air leak in a vacuum brake booster which indicates that it needs repalcing
Could be air in system and right side not applying brakes. Also the internal rubber in brake line where solid metal line attaches to can deteriorate and form a blockage for brake fluid to not reach caliper on right side.
I would take your vehical to another mechanic, preferably one who knows what they are talking about. If you vehical is still behaving strangly, you may have been ripped off.
I would first bleed the brakes again -- maybe there is still a small amount of air still in the lines. If this doesn't work and there is no visible leak, I would have to suspect the master cylinder is "leaking by" internally. A new one shouldn't be failing already, but it's happened before.
For some reason the abs is applying itself prematurely. This could be happening for several reason
1. bad abs sensors (4) one in each wheel
2. bad axle (if axle was replace make sure that its a abs axle).
3.Bad abs Unit or abs computer.
Have the vehicle put on scanner and check for fault code. Auto-Zone does this check for free then you can take it from there.
