Question about 2001 Ford F250 Super Duty Super Cab

1 Answer

2001 f250 4x4 fuse number?

I believe my 2001 f250 diesel is trying to engage 4 wheel drive on its own, weird i know but im getting a real weird noise from the front end and this is the only thing i can think of that it would be, it only happens for a few seconds then goes away, and it can go days and not do it then all of a sudden it does it...and at all rates of speed... So i figured maybe pull that fuse and see if things change

SOURCE: 2000 ford f250 super duty 4x4 7.3L diesel oil leak

The HPOP (high pressure oil pump) is right under the filter housing. There are 2 lines that distribute the oil to the cylinder heads. The o-rings on those fittings go out. Kit is available from Ford or International. You will need a special wrench to get to the fittings though.

It could be the shift motor assembly needs a little TLC. Check this site out. http://draco.acs.uci.edu/explorer/

But first try the rest button located in the drivers rear qtr panel. Remove the jack access panel and you'll see it up front. It's black with a white button on the bottom. With car running, press reset.

When you rebuild the motor, don't cut the brown wire. Disassamble the connector and the pin slides out the back.

Lots of noise comming from free wheel hub and bearing while in two wheel drive and just before comming to a stop it actually feels like it engages i took the free wheel hub off and the noise stopped a

the freewheeling hubs work when the axle is driving by transfereing the drive to the hubs from the axle. If you remove the hubs and the noise goes I suggest the problem is not in the hubs but in the cv joint just inside the hub. When you engage the F/Wheel hubs you are loading up these cv joints and if they are worn then that is when you will get the noise

2004 Jeep Liberty Noise/Problem

if you are driving on hard surface ( sealed roads) in 4wd then don't as if damages the drive train
what is happening is that there is a torque wind up from the front and rear wheels running at different distances and the cluck you hear is when at some point that torque is released and allows the selection to disengage or engage
4wd is for use in slipper conditions unless you have an AWD which will become 4WD when required by you after selection of the control

If the transfer case is engaging, try it in 4X4 low foot on the brake and other on the gas (power braking) and you can get the rear tires to break loose your 4 wheel drive actuator switch is bad, a common problem on these 4X4's. It is a simple repair and is located on the front differential.

On small shift behinde gear lever there is 3 settings. H4 = 4 wheel drive high range, L4 = 4 wheel drive low range, h2 = 2 wheel drive high range. as soon as jou engage to 4 wheel drive a green light on the dash board will appear to indicate that the car is in 4 wheel drive. if not check fuse - check air pipes at front wheels. Most likely wheel bearing or cv joint issue. look for a ripped open cv boot. I believe that year used cv joints instead of regular u-joints. Hope I helped. Thanks

1994 ford explorer 4 wheel drive not working

Go to the engine compartment where the relays are located with the fuses. Check or replace the 4 wheel auto engage relay , maybe is not working. Is very clearly mark, I believe is the top right one looking at the bost front front of vehicle to the back. There is a diagram drawing of each relay in the cover, so you can't go wrong.
