Alternator belt replacement 91 Mazda 323

How to get the belt replaced without taking off the serpintine belt totally. Or at least the easiest way to replace the belt and the tools needed.

USUALLY THE SIZE OF BELT IS MENTIONED ON THE BELT ITSELF WHICH CAN BE SEEN IF YOU CLEAN THE BELT WITH A CLOTH DAMPED WITH WATER. GET THE BELT FROM THE STORE YOU WILL NOTICE A METAL LOOP WITH A SLIDE CUT IN IT ALMOST 3 TO 4 INCHES WITH A BOLT TIGHTENED FIXING THE ALTERNATOR. WITH THE HELP OF TWO SPANNERS LOOSEN THE NUT AND BOLT AND WITH THE HELP OF PRY BAR BRING THE ALTERNATOR CLOSER RELEASING THE OLD BELT. PUT THE NEW BELT BACK AND WITH THE HELP OF PRY BAR PULL BACK THE ALTERNATOR AND WITH THE BAR IN PRY TIGHTER THE NUT AND BOLT. CHECK FOR THE BELT PLAY BY PRESSING THE BELT ON THE AREA MID OF BOTH THE PULLEYS IT SHOULD HAVE A PLAY OF AROUND .05 TO .75 MM IF NOT RE DE THE PROCESS HAVE A PHYSICAL CHECK AND THEN START THE ENGINE NOW PUT ON THE AC IF YOU HEAR THE SQUEAKING NOISE STOP THE AC AND THE WAIT AND TRY TO PUT THE AC ON AGAIN IF YOU DO NOT HEAR THE NOISE THEN THE BELT IS FIXED CORRECTLY IT SHOULD NOT GIVE ANY SLIPPING SOUND.

Instructions and or diagram on how to replace alternator belt for 97 mazda astina 323
This is from the Owners Handbook :
Alternator Drive Belt.
1. Loosen the alternator mounting bolt and adjusting bar bolt. Replace Fanbelt.
2. Turn the adjusting bolt until the correct tension is obtained. The deflexion should be 10mm.
3. Tighten bolts and recheck the tension.

The new mazda 323 is Chain driven and should be replaced every several thousand miles....Its not necessary but will show top preformance.

Alternator
First you need to remove the serpintine belt or alternator belt. If it is a serpintine locate the tension pully(the one that doesn't look like it does anything) place a wrench over the pully bolt and pull while removing the belt. Most generaly all alternators have two bolts holding them in. Remove both bolts. and remove alternator on some vehicles you need to remove the top engine mounts to remove the acctual alternator. make sure you if you do this you put a jack under the bngine block. NEVER ON THE OIL PAN. After that simply remove the old alternator and replace it with the new one reinstall the serpintine belt as instructed on either the underside of your hood or where the hood latch is.
