No dome light or radio

I have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 ,eveything on the truck works but the radio and domelights,I have checked the fuses they are good

Yes they are connected. Both use power from the IOD fuse. I have somewhat the same problem. No radio and no dome lights can not find a wire shorted anywhere. The fuses are all good until I turn on the dome light with the switch then The IOD fuse blows but there was no radio (oh ya and mirror movement) when the fuse was good.

I had this problem. Changed both door jamb switches and it works perfectly fine. Check fuse #17 first though.

It's the IOD fuse. Trust me, I just fixed the exact problem on my '98 not ten minutes ago. The fuse is located in the fuse box inside the driver's side door. It will be the fuse on the bottom and toward the front of the panel with a black cover over it. Just pull the fuse holder straight out and snap the hinged cover forward to expose the fuse. Just a standard 10 amp automotive fuse and you're back in business!

Yes I also just had the same problem, and even though it may not make sense, the radio and interior domes are connected on the same curcuit using fuse # 12 IOD! I just changed it 10A fuse and both radio and lights are back in business!

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 radio and inside dome light sre not working. Radio 15A fuse is good. What do I look for?

Hi Steve:
You may have 2 separate problems so I'd try to approach it that way. RADIO - On this older truck, it may be that there is a separate in-line fuse for the radio. If you can see under the dash where the wires come from the radio, look for a red or black one that has an in-line fuse holder. Push the ends inwards and twist counterclockwise, then pull apart to get at the fuse. It is also possible that the "accessory" terminal of the ignition switch is no longer working. A continuity meter should help you resolve that.
DOME LIGHT - Pull the bulb and test to make sure it's working. Check for power at the bulb connection receptacle (socket). Dome lights typically are switched from the doors or by rotating the light switch. If the bulb is good, it should be a hide and seek game to find where the power is, and where it isn't. The shorter the distance between these points, the closer you are to the problem.
Patience, and a sense of humour. You'll get it.

Dome lights wont work on a 1999 dodge ram 1500 van

check in the fuse panel for a blown fuse or a time delay relay to be blown out. if this checks out to be good, then you have a short in the wiring to dome light. also you may look inside the dome light socket for a blown light bulb or a short in the socket.
