Sorry old man, but you need to remove the intake manifold to get to the rear plugs.

Good luck!

I had the same problem on my 2000 Jaguar S Type 6 cylinder. Finally I changed out all 6 colis (bought them at $250 for 6 on-line). Biggest problem is installing them. The 3 cylinders on the driver's side are easy to do, as they are fitted under the plastic cover. The other 3 cylinders on the passengers side are a problem. You have to remove the exhaust manufold, which is not all that easy. I believe I had to remove about 12 to 14 bolts, many clips and clamps, but finally the car is purring like new again. (PS the exhaust manufold is that big silver / aluminum unit sitting on top of the engine, extending towards the passeger's side of the engine.

you may have to replace the cowl pack itself that sit on top of the spark plug and sometimes you can get by just changing the boot wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

Take the Jag down and get a look at it and get it inspected. Cars tend to spring up on people like this. The light goes off, you check, you think it is fine. But later, it just so happens that it isn't.

2003 x-type codes help. P0037, P0300, P0305, P1111 (pend), P1316. Any help with explaining these codes will be much appreciated. Thanks

Go to http://www.bluejag.co.uk/diagnosticcodes.php to get a good description of the problems. Looks like a fault on cylinder 5 to me Ignoring P1111 which dosn't matter at the moment, could be ignition coil, plug, injector etc unless there is anything else obvious in that area. (when were your plugs last changed?)

Code p1313 p1316 p1111 p0301 means what?

Odd one this to have P1111 as well.

According to my data P1111 is all dtc checks compleated, http://www.bluejag.co.uk however some websites show it as a Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit Intermittent High Voltage, I'm fairly sure that the latter is incorrect.

check the basics first plugs, leads, corroded ground connections etc then its a bit of a guessing game

As for the other codes

P0301 = Misfire detected - cylinder 1
P1313 = Misfire rate catalyst damage - bank 1
P1316 = Misfire excess emission

Possible causes (as per JTIS):

Cylinder compression low
Worn camshaft / broken valve spring(s)
Fuel delivery pressure (low / high)
Fuel injector(s) restricted / leaking
Fuel injector(s) continuously open
Fuel contamination
Fuel injector circuit fault(s)
(Injector DTCs also flagged)
Spark plug failure / fouled / incorrect gap
ECM to ignition coil primary circuit fault
(Cylinder misfire detected DTC also
flagged)
Ignition coil failure

hope this helps

My '04 Jag X-Type stutters at 3k rpm. There's a check engine light and codes P0174 and P1111. I replaced both IMT o-rings, PCV hose, and brake booster to manifold hose. The dealership couldn't figure it...

My Jag had the same problem. It was the upper and lower intake manifold seals. Buy the aftermarket FelPros and save big money. Change them yourself and save even more. It's not that hard.

Misfire

Well, the P in the code means powertrain.  As far as the code specifics,
P1313 Misfire Rate Catalyst Damage Fault - Bank 1
P1316 Misfire Rate Exceeds Emissions

I would say check your spark plugs and wires.
