Do have two battery setup. Check all your connections again. If the truck worked before you broke the starter and only thing you do is replaced the starter. Check the connections meaning the bolts and wires also. They may be corroded under the plastic covers so you can cut the battery cable covers off or sometimes they slide off easy once you remove the battery bolt with pliers. If you see any corrosion. Use baking soda and hot water and wire brush. Clean the posts and connections. That should make things work better

To start recheck terminals.I am only guessing but remove the battery terminals and clean them like your going to use them to eat with! Both battery terminals and both cables. If there is still a problem, i would say starter, battery, or a corroded positive battery cable( under insulation within the first 2 ft. recheck battery voltage after a few mins to help verify correct state of charge. be safe!

SOURCE: Car Wont Start

It could possibly be a battery with no or very low amps. I would get it checked by a dealer or many auto parts stores have battery testers.

SOURCE: 1997 chevy 4.3 1500 will not start.

If all cables and battery check out....make sure you have a good ground. If that is all good you need to check if you are getting battery voltage down to the solenoid with the key in the start position. If not most likely it's the ignition switch...if voltage is ok check connections at starter and again make sure ground is good. You should see battery voltage at the solenoid when the key is in the start position....at the battery cable and the smaller wire on the solenoid. If all checks out and still no-start...you need a starter.

SOURCE: 1998 454 engine wont start. starter replace selonoid replaced.

Items of interest.

1.When a starter fails to start a vehicle, and the wiring has been found to be bad, and changed, one suspects the wiring first.

2.If a starter is suspected to be bad, one takes it out, and performs a benchtest, or takes it to an auto parts store, and see if they can do a benchtest. They need to load test it, not just see if it will Spin!

This test result should stop the needless buying, of starter after starter. If you get three bad starters in a row from an auto parts store, I suggest it's time to change auto parts stores! (Make sure, you are not twisting the S terminal on the Solenoid, when installing the ignition wires)

3.The frame of your vehicle should be the Ground.

Make sure that the motor home manufacturer, hasn't reversed the system for this motor home, and is using the frame for Positive.
This was done in the past for some older vehicles, because it was thought to reduce rusting, of the frame. However, you're dealing with a motor home. Hard to say what type of system they used.
Normal, would be using the frame as a Ground.

In the normal type of setup, of using the frame as ground, make sure where the starter contacts that 454 Chevy engine block, that this area of the starter has no paint on it. The starter grounds through the engine block, and where the starter contacts the engine block.

Make sure also, that this area of the engine block has no paint on it.

Be sure that there are flat braided ground straps going from the frame, to the engine block. If they are an insulated wire, and not braided flat straps, be sure they are about the thickness of your little finger. You'll notice I stated -> They. There should be TWO of them. ONE, will NOT Do!

The frame is the ground. The starter gets it's Ground source from the engine. The engine gets it's ground source from the frame. The only contact the engine has to the frame, is the motor mounts, and the transmission mount. They have
RUBBER in the middle!
There HAS to be -> ground straps! There MUST be TWO of them for the correct amount of grounding!

4.Power to start the starter turning comes from the ignition switch. The reason you have a solenoid on the starter, is so that there won't be a wire that is the thickness of your little finger, going up to the ignition switch!

Check the wire that comes from the ignition switch, for power, once the ignition switch is turned to the Start position.

Battery -> Negative terminal disconnected. Ignition wire from starter disconnected. Put electrical tape on the terminal end, of the ignition wire you removed from the starter solenoid. (Goes to the -> S <- on the solenoid)

Leave the other wires on, put the nut back on, and tighten. (Use caution in this area. The nut is only 5/16 inch, or 11/32. This means that threaded post is TINY. DON'T overtighten! IF, the threaded post starts to turn, STOP! Pull out on the post.

Inside the solenoid cap, that you can't see, there is a square boss, on inside end, of this tiny threaded terminal post. The solenoid cap, has a square hole that this boss fits into. Keeps that tiny threaded post from turning. Inside the cap, the tiny threaded post is connected to a one strand copper wire. If you twist the tiny threaded post, more than 90 degrees, the wire will twist off! Time for another solenoid!

Wheels chocked. Transmission in neutral, and it's best to have the parking brake on, and someone in the drivers seat. Have this person hold their foot down on the brake pedal. This way you avoid any accidents happening to YOU, someone else, or property.

Reconnect the Negative battery terminal. (Order of connecting up a battery is ALWAYS, Positive terminal First, Negative terminal last)

Take a multimeter set it to DC, and to the 50 volt scale. Find a clean, non-painted surface on the frame, (Or scratch a little area), touch the Black lead, (Negative probe) of the multimeter to it. Touch the Red lead, (Positive probe), of the multimeter to the ignition wire, electrical tape partially removed. (Enough so you can make a good contact to that terminal. The tape is there, in case the wire slips out of your hand, and touches a ground. If it has no tape, you'll think it's the Fourth of July under there!)

No reading? Be sure the person inside, has the ignition switch in the starting position. Still no reading? Check that ignition switch out. See if it's getting power.

SOURCE: 08 avalanche pass side power door lock not working

if you have any knowledge of automotivce electrical, (and that you need to use a "circuit tester" and not a test light) test for power when someone presses the button. it wouldnt be uncommon for most vehicles for the lock actuator/solenoid/duty actuator to wear out, get weak and fail. this is most probable. given that this is an 08, have you checked withe dealer to see if its still under warranty. if we are only talking a few miles and they wont do anything, look in your owners handbook and get the 1 800 number and get GM's customer service involved. cheers.

1989 chevy 44 engine swap

for a swap like that a chilton book would cover info for both motors and they cost under 20 bucks. just saying it beats the hell out of guessing at it or taking some schmucks advise from the internet. since your old 5.7 had TBI im hoping the 454 your swapping it with is also a TBI, if not your best bet would probally be to convert to carb but your going to need to replace the fuel system as the 2 high pressure lines that ran the TBI wont work with a carb. if it is TBI your going to need the ECM that came with the 454 as the 350 one is just going to "get confused" and have issues. Since your rig has an older ECM you can remove the Electronic senders and replace them with manual ones to simplify everything ( i have an 89 chevy i built a rat 355 for so ive been through this before) . without knowing exactly the year of the 454 thats about all i can think of to watch out for on that swap, i hope your not trying to mate the 454 to a 4L60, your going to need at least a 4l80 with an upgraded sun shell gear or a heavy duty manual ( at least 10 spline and 12 inch clutch).

Tried to jump start 94 chevy corvette and accidentally placed the negative cable on the positive terminal and vice versa. Got a new battery, but it only turns over. SYS flashing on dash screen. Help!

check to make sure no wires are melted apart. and also check fuses. espesially the main fuse. check the voltage from alternator to battery, it should be 14 to 14.3 when running. battery voltage should be about 13 volts when engine is off.

MY 2001 grand caravan wont start , it only stars once in a while i think it might be the starter

before you assume that the starter motor is to blame make sure it is not the battery or connection / cables on the battery. Also, check the starter solenoid.

1987 chevy s10 2.5l tbi will not start. changed bad fuel pump works well now strong pressure to throttle body. change fuel pressure switch, oil pressure switch, o2 sensor, map sensor, distrib cap, rotor,...

That eliminates the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. Have you checked the fuel injector itself for an open winding or stuck valve plunger? There should not be a steady 12 volts to the injector--if good injector, it would be spraying fuel steadily into the throttle body. But at least the engine should try to run if poorly. Take the injector out, dry it off with air, and intermittently apply 12 volts to one terminal while grounding the other. You should hear a click from inside every time you touch 12 volts. If not, replace it. If it does, it may be plugged with debris. Try blowing through it in reverse with compressed air.

Need transmission info for 1988 Chevy Silverado 454 C3500 dually

got a clutch pedal in there? If auto, it could be a 700r4 or some variation of that. You can likely get exact info from a dealer if you give them the vin #.

My 98 S10, stop and don't start anymore. the compression test is ok,but no spark....and the fuel pump have no power...that means 12 volts is interrupted in some place....but where????

first check the condition of all circuit wiring for damage. Inspect all connection to the starter motor, solenoid, ignition switch, and battery, including all ground connections. Clean and tighten all connections as required
next
Check the voltage drop between the negative battery terminal and the vehicle frame by placing one lead of a voltmeter on the grounded battery post (not the cable clamp) and the other lead on the frame. Turn the ignition key to the START position and note the voltage drop.
Check the voltage drop between the positive battery terminal (not the cable clamp) and the starter terminal stud. Turn the ignition key to the START position and note the voltage drop.
Check the voltage drop between the starter housing and the frame. Turn the ignition key to the START position and note the voltage drop.
If the voltage drop in any of the above is more than 1 volt, there is excessive resistance in the circuit. Clean and retest all cables not within specification. Replace as necessary.
