How difficult is it to change out the shifter knob to a different one? I bought a new one to add style and not sure how easy it is since there is a button you push in to put it in a different gear. A 44 mag shifter knob for automatic made by pilot motor sports.
Just took one of those off my nephews car...usually the handle has a small clip at the front bottom that needs to be pulled out. PS threw the mag handle in the garbage (because no button, and handle kept falling off)
The only company I have EVER used for anything at all that has to do with shifters is Hurst. I have never found something made by them that does not fit, or work! I don't know if they make anything that you might want, but personally I'd stay away from any other source.
Just typed hurst on google and it came right up. Don't know why you don't want to keep the button though...its there for a reason.
Personally I'd save for something to make it go fast though...for over 20 years every sunday my hand was wrapped around a Hurst "T" handle stuck to a borg warner "T10 rockcrusher" trans with Liberty gears inside. Cars just ain't fun anymore!!!

Thanks thundergod. So what your saying is I should take the Mag shifter knob back and trade it in for something that has a button on it? What brand would you recommend? Greatly appreciated for anymore advice you can give me.
Thanks Pj
1 more ? thundergod, is there a cable involved when removing the factory shifter knob for the 2003 Monte Carlo SS or is it just the clip and you can then add your own shifter knob without the button style? Also is there a good website that you can recommend to browse for Hurst style shifter knobs?
