Tire pressure sensors are just that, sensitive. If all your tire have the proper pressure and you still are seeing the sensor light and it comes back on after resetting it then the computer sensor monitor is at fault. Unless you can reset your cars' computer you will probably be stuck with going to the dealer for service. Call various other reputable service centers that have certified mechanics before turning out the big green at a FORD dealership though.

SOURCE: tire pressure sensor or gauge

Have you checked tire pressure? It will come on if your tire pressure is just a few pounds low.

SOURCE: My ABS light is coming on what does that mean?

1. check and make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressure

2. turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch (think the switch is in the glovebox, but not sure) until the warning light turns off and then release the switch.

3. now press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the low tire pressure warning light blinks three times.

4. initialization is *not* completed until driving at the vehicle speed of 19 mph or over for more than one hour. the tire pressure monitoring starts when initialization is completed.

As for the ABS light, that means your antilock brake system has detected an issue such as a block sensor, or a faulty relay, etc.. when this light is on, it means that your abs may not engage when it should, or may engage when it shouldn't.

To reset the tire pressure light you need to get the tool.

You can get the tool here on link below.

SOURCE: Tire sensor fault on our 2006 Ford Explorer after new tires

2006 Ford Truck Explorer
NOTE: The tire pressure sensor training prcedure must be done in an area without radio frequency (RF) noise. RF noise is generated by electrical motor and appliance operation, cell phones, and remote transmitters.

1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position
2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position three times, ending in the RUN position. Do not wait more than two minutes between each key cycle.
3. Press and release the brake pedal
4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

Sequence:
1- Left Front Tire
2- Right Front Tire
3- Right Rear Tire
4- Left Rear Tire

5. Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position three times, ending in the RUN position. Do not wait for more than two minutes between each key cycle.
6. The horn will sound once and the TPMS indicator will flash if train mode has been entered successfully. If equipped, the message center displays "TRAIN LEFT FRONT TIRE." Place the magnet on the valve stem of the LF tire pressure sensor. The horn will sound briefly to indicate that the tire pressure sensor has been recognized by the TPMS module.
7.Within two minutes after the horn sounds, place the magnet on the valve stem of the RF tire pressure sensor. NOTE: If the TPMS module does not recognize any one of the four tire pressure sensors during the tire training procedure, the horn will sound twice and the message center (if equipped) will display "TIRE TRAINING MODE INCOMPLETE." If this occurs, the entire procedure must be repeated from Step 1.
8. Repeat Step 7 for the RR and LR tires. When the tire training procedure is complete, the horn will sound once and the message center (if equipped) will display TIRE TRAINING MODE COMPLETE.

This should help. For now, probably all Fords are like this. And I do not believe that Ford puts sensors in their spares (some GMs do).
Good luck

Tire pressure says sensor fault it's a 2009 Mercury mariner do I need to replace or can it be reset

The "tire pressure sensor fault" message is an indication that there is a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). A tire pressure monitoring system is required for all motor vehicles manufactured after 2007. The pressurized air inside the tire is monitored by the TPMS. The TPMS consists of tire pressure sensors which are placed inside each wheel. These sensors provide the driver with information regarding the actual tire pressure of each tire in real time.
All car tires are tubeless, unlike bike tires that have an inner tube that when filled with air inflates the rubber tire. Tubeless car tires have an inner core that is filled with pressurized air. The tire should be filled based on the manufacturer's specified PSI. This can usually be found on a sticker on the driver's side door or trunk. If the tire is overinflated or underinflated, this could cause damage to the tire and/or hazardous driving conditions.
Problems that are possible when a tire is overinflated:
  • Shorter lifespan of the tire
  • Broken tire belt
  • Uneven wear on the tread
  • Bad traction-specifically in the rain and snow
  • Difficult to steer and/or maneuver (it may feel as if you are driving on ice)
  • Decreased friction
  • Driver may experience a harsh ride
  • Could cause damage to the suspension
  • Tire may blowout/explode
Problems that are possible when a tire is underinflated:
  • Shorter lifespan of the tire
  • Make cause the tread to separate
  • Premature wear on the tread
  • Decreased fuel economy
  • Difficult to steer and/or maneuver (it may feel harder to turn with precision)
  • Increased friction
  • Tire may blowout/explode

What does service tire monitor mean on a 2005 chevy tahoe means

It means you have a malfunction in the TPMS system. First you can try to do a reset as follows: 1. key on, engine off, parking brake on. 2. turn park lights on and off 4 times you will hear a horn chirp twice, you are in program mode. Start at L/F tire release air for 10 seconds, wait 15 seconds until horn chirp, after chirp go to R/F tire do the same until horn chirp then R/R let air out til the chirp then L/R do the same after the L/R chirp, turn key off and you are done, note you have only 5 min. to complete. If you do not hear horn chirp at each tire, you will have to start from beginning. When complete, remember to add air to each tire, 35 psi is recommended.
If that does not work you probably have a bad TPMS sensor, which will have to be replaced. Some auto parts stores will test your sensors for free, so check around.

Yellow horseshoe shape with explanation flashing on my dash of Nissan Titan

That signal is from your tire monitoring sensors, telling you that there is air pressure difference between tires. The tire pressure should be same in all tires.

TPMS

TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System. There are sensors inside your tires that monitor your tire pressure and tell you if they are low. Depending on the car, this light could mean that your tire pressure is low. If you changed your tires recently, the technician could have knocked the sensor, or if you changed rims, there may not be a sensor inside that rim and is showing up as an error code on your dash.

I just came back from Toyota with the same problem!

There are two different types of TPMS systems on Highlanders. One using battery powered sensors in the wheels, and one using ABS monitoring.
Some models actually use both systems as well.
For the record, a 2005 should only have the ABS monitoring TPMS system, not sensors.

If you have a reset button under your steering column, you have the ABS monitoring system.
If your valve stems are metal, you also have the sensor based system.
If your valve stems are rubber, you do not have the sensor system, and as such the spare is not monitored.

A sensor fault (dead battery, erroneous reading, etc) on the sensor system will result in a FLASHING TPMS light, not just lit.

A lit TPMS light on either system indicates a low pressure problem.

The absolute biggest issue I have seen with the reset button system causing recurring lights is improper reset technique.
When you reset your tire pressure, you need to run the reset button TWO times times to clear the system and not cause a recurrence in the next day or so.

The reason is this:
When your light comes on, indicating a low tire, you go fill all your tires up.
Then you push the reset button, making the light go out......this tells the system "Tires are aired up to whatever the old pressure was, turn the light out!." If they are not aired up exactly as whatever value they were set to XX days/months/however long ago when it was reset right, you have a problem!

Now you should push the button a SECOND time, the light will come on, flash several times then go out... This tells the system "OK, from now on, THIS is the correct pressure to look for, not the old pressure!"

It will now use that value as the correct "pressure" (ABS rolling diameter) to verify tire pressure condition.

Most likely have a pressure sensor bad. Have you had the tires replaced recently? The sensors are easy to damage when mounting and dismounting tires.
