Trunk light is out on my 2005 Hyundai Elantra. I tried replacing with Sylvania bulb as per their book - #6418. This repalcement bulb was bigger than the original I took out and would not fit. I tried another bulb the same size as original and still not lighting up after re-connecting power supply and snapping back in. Any ideas?

I had to reinstall the loose mounting hardware for the trunk upper latch.
SOURCE: trunk light and dash light always on
ORRY for my english written because im french canadian...
Anyways i had the same problem ,,, first it started with my rear tale light (breaking light) not working , than my stick was stock on parking but with some chance i was able to get around it quite easily by playing with the pedal by taping in and out till i would hear the solenoid valve popping than i kept my feet firmly on the pedal and also pushing further till i could switch to drive and this without using any pin insert situated near your shift stick.... also i had a trunk open indicator light popping off for no reason.. big trouble all at the same time (electrical problem) but dont worry
I went to a hyundai garage and there solution was to change the brake light( what a fraud) and change my burned brake light so i told them to only change my brake light .Soon after the brk light was replaced my parking stick was no longer stock on parking but i still had this trunk open indicator light going on ,,,,than i've read on internet this particular problem with the trunk light indicator and all those problem together,,,
The problem was a rusty connector situated at the left tail light ( inside the trunk).A lot of different wires are passing there (light switch) (wires of the trunk indicator light on your pannel
Because the connector was rusty it shorted my brake light ,,,,than because my brake light was burnt it activated a special mechanism that blocs your car at park( ((((((most car companies have this device since they figured driving with a car without brake light fonctionning properly could be dangerous))))) Than i had also had this trunk indicator light popping off triggered once again from those shorted rusty wires
you see all the trouble resulting a rusty connectors.... so i came back to the garage explaining to the guy what to do and what to look for concerning my trunk light indicator always activated on my panel.... ( i told him to wash the connector in and out..... soon after everyt thing turned out good as before..
What i didn't like about hyundai concessionary (7020 blvd henri bourassa) in Montreal city
is that they played dumb with me with out acknowledging the fact that the car could be stock on park because it s a security issue if the brake light are grilled,,, they tryed to ******* all the way , i swear,,, telling to change component that are not even compatible with the nature of the problem...
let me recap... rusty wires connector > shortened brake light> stick stuck in parking > trunk light indicator always on ...
ps: it had nothing to do with the fuse box by the way...
,
thank you hope it will help yall.....email if it worked good luck

SOURCE: Locked my keys in the trunk of a 2009 hyundai elantra
if the car has a fold down back seat fold it down and try to reach in the trunk there should be a safety pull to open it or if you can reach the keys you are done ! if it does not have a fold down seat the fastest and safest way is call a locksmith or AAA if you have the service you dont want to start using a coat hanger or a slimjim on that car you could break the plastic clips that hold the linkage rods in place in the door and do some damage to the car . hope this helps
SOURCE: keys lock in trunk alarm will not allow trunk switch to lock
The solution is to pull out the back seat to get into the trunk. There are two bolts holding the bottom part of back seat (bolts located between bottom and top sections). Then pull out bottom section of back seat and you see the hinge for the top section, remove the bolts and then you can lift up and access the trunk. It's not that hard.
