Fuel trims were in use due to fuel pump sensors/fuel pump. try 6 or more drive cycles and see if po420 will reset or clear. Drive cycles are ,,,, warm engine,, 2500 rpm,,, 6 minutes. During that time, the ecu will test at about one minute each during the drive cycle.. it may take more cycles to see if 420 will clear out on its own. The cat efficiency was degraded below the calibrated threshold ,,, might be due to the fact that the fuel pump and sensor problem triggered the ecu to change the fuel trim on the injectors. This "fuel trim" is the way that the ecu fine tunes the engine to current conditions over the base fuel injector pulse. Its the ecu learning what is happening to the air/fuel ratio and over serveral cycles it will change the A/F ratio to suit. It may take a few driving cycles for all of this to even or clear out.
