Key will not go into ignition, drivers door lock stopped working

2006 Jetta: Drivers door lock stopped, dealer replaced actuator, 1 week later, same problem. Dealer looked and found ''loose wire'', said now good to go. Now door has same problem and with lock not working key will not go into ignition. Cannot crank and drive car. Are these related?

Original chip key won't work, dealer changed battery, shows power but will not activate car door. Dealer cannot reprogram chip key, what would cause this?

I had the same problen with my 2006 jetta. My husband put a small amount of oil in to loosen up a little white piece, inserted the key and gave it a gentle tap. The key went in and we have not had any further problems!

We had the same problem with a 2006 Volkswagon Jetta. Key would not go into the ignition. Left me stranded in a grocery parking lot. Husband used advice to pick away at the white slide in ignition. IT WORKS. Thank you so much.

SOURCE: key will not go into ignition, drivers door lock stopped working

I have solved the problem with the help of others who post earlier comments who had a similar problem. I read that the tang at the entrance of the tumbler sleeve that receives the key is plastic and that by using a small sturdy screw driver you can bend the tang in. I was then able to insert the key. I plan on having a new tumbler sleeve installed in the near future.

My Mitsubishi colt CZ1 (07 plate) has problem with cental locking. I can manually central lock but with the remote it locks/unlocks all the doors except the driver's door. Please help. Thanks

Central locking works by way of little electric motors that engages and disengages the door lock. The drivers door has an additional set of contacts in the actuator which signal the controller when it changes position. The controller activates the servo motors when a signal is received from the receiver or from the drivers door servo motor. So in your case I suspect the motor part of the drivers door actuator is done for.
To replace you will have to remove the inner driver's door panel to get at the actuator. The actuator itself cannot be repaired and needs to be replaced as a unit.

My 1999 jetta remote has stopped working.

you should be able to turn off alarm via key in drivers door if not test all doors to make sure they unlock. if any door will not lock that door latch will need replaced if work ok then try disarming alarm from trunk key or from the passanger door. if that works, you may need to have the key recoded to the car.

Front drivers door lock issues

Our '97 Jetta locking is similar. One back door does not go down with the driver's door key double turn. We push it down manually before locking the rest with the key. I believe electrical lock actuator is gone on that door. Down the repair list. I have had door panels off on the car fixing electric window regulator. There is quite an expensive plastic sheet glued on to inside of door for sound proofing. Real hard not to tear. I bought new one from the dealer. Also little plastic clips around the door panel perimeter were brittle and about 50% broke, but not so expensive.
