some of these electric interlocks require the brake pedal stepped on for releasing..have you tried that? along with shifting fully into park a few times?

Go to the auto parts store and buy a new ignition switch and key, remove the steering wheel and replace it.

was the key stuck in the ignition before you change the battery? Is it the right key or it a fresh cut key

Is the key stuck because you have an automatic transmission and you are unable to shift it into P (park)?

if you remove the cover from the columb there is eithoer a button on the bottom or a slot to push the lock back in

turn ignition on with key and push button while pulling on key away from columb

USE A WRENCH AND STREACH THE KEY HOLE WORKED FOR ME!!!
