Rough idle/ not accelerating/coolant leak

My focus idles rough at times and when it does the battery light flashes, P01710 code (i think) says bank 1 running lean. Also after about 30 mins of driving around and i stop at a red light or stop sign and go to accelerate it will get shaky and slowly gain speed and then around 35-40mph it will stop accelerating and starts to shake front to back slightly, engine revs but doesnt go faster. When i stop for a few minutes to shut off my engine and start back up it accelerate fine again. also there is a coolant leak that is coming down the front of the tranny and i cant figure out where its coming from (mechanic says i need to take out the tranny to get to the leak but im trying not to do that). Can anyone help shed some light, is my tranny done? diagram of coolant lines? should i replace the sensors? thank you

SOURCE: engine runs rough at certain speeds 3.0 v6 flex-fuel 1999 ranger

Check and see if the EGR valve is leaking, to check this spray water on it at idle, if the water steams off the valve is leaking and is the source of your problem, also are you sure you hooked the new DPFE sensor up right? re-check it..

SOURCE: Check engine light comes on. p0171 and p0351 codes found

From Lusty Kid:

I know the economy is bad, but change all of the plugs. Check your PCV Valve hose, 150 rottens them out allowing air to be sucked in, thus all kinds of codes.

Depending on mileage. Dismount the EGR valve and clean passages. If you are really good dismount the throtle position sensor body and clean out passages with Choke Cleaner., dismount where the EGR valves connects to the engine, clean out passages. Also check the hose thats behind this mounting to ensure is not clogged. If clogged clean it out. If not replace it. Is about 1.5 ft. long, connects to the PCV Valve Hose.

When is the last time you change your harness. Can't remember??? Replace it. Good Luck

I have a 2001 Ford Focus with the codes p0136 and p0141 showing, what should I do?

both codes refer to O2 sensors. PO141 and PO136. 136 is sensor bank 1 sensor 2. 141 is bank 1 sensor 1. so this info will work on both sensors. This code means that the heated circuit in the oxygen sensor on bank 1 decreases time needed to enter closed loop.
As the O2 heater reaches operating temperature, the oxygen sensor responds by switching according to oxygen content of the exhaust surrounding it. The ECM tracks how long it takes for the oxygen sensor to begin switching. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly, it will set P0141. See also: P0135 (Bank 1, Sensor 1).
Symptoms You will likely notice poor fuel economy the illumination of the Check Engine Light.
Causes A code P0141 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • open or short to ground in the wiring harness
  • O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance
  • O2 heater element resistance is high
  • Internal short or open in the heater element
Note: Typically a failed catalytic converter does not cause this code. You're more likely to see a P0420 code for a failed converter.
Possible Solutions
  • Replace oxygen sensor (cannot repair open or short that occurs internally to sensor)
  • Repair short or open or high resistance in wiring harness or harness connectors

Diagnostic Codes p0171 bank 1, and p0174 bank 2 (too lean)

Those codes are for the oxygen sensors, lean fuel mixture on both banks. Change them, problem with stalling and rough idle should go away.

Battery light coming on

you have three separate issues here...
1- water leak...check the hoses and radiator for tighness, see if the weep hole in the water pump us leaking.  Check the radiator cap.  If all else fails...add a can of stop leak.
2- rough idle...do that overdue tune-up with new plugs. wires, cap and rotor.
3- battery light...you have an intermittent loose connection in the charging system.
