The maintenance required light is on but no engine or transmission codes show up. What else could be the problem? The oil was just changed. How do I turn the light off?

The maintenance required light does not indicate any problem with the engine or systems like a Check Engine Light (CEL) does. This light is normally a reminder to change the oil. Getting the light to turn off is really easy.

In order, follow these steps:

1. Press and hold down the trip odometer reset button.
2. Turn the key to the on position without starting the engine.
3. Continue to hold down the reset button; The light should go out within 10-15 seconds.

God bless and good luck.

I have a maintenance required light lit on the dash. What would cause this?

Your dodge is an OBD1 compliant vehicle. All you need to do to retrieve the code for what caused the light to illuminate is cycle your ignition key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within a 5 second period. The light will illuminate "x" amount of times, pause, and then illuminate "x" amount of times. For example, if it illuminates 2 times then pauses then illuminates 4 times, it is a code 24. There are many different reasons the light will come on, so after you find the code ask another question regarding the code number and what it means.

Reset maintenance light

If I remember correctly, on the dash you have a select button. Hold the button down then turn the key on, until the maintenance light blinks and goes out. Turn the key off then back on and your light should be out.

Maintenance Required Light flashes 5 times

I have the same problem and I read in the user manual that it flashes as a reminder to get oil changed. Depending on how many miles between changes it flashes different amount of times. Manual tells how to reset the gauge. Might be more than that but check your book first.
