My 96 tauras stalls when accerating but idols fine

check air filter, might be plugged, [dirty so engine is starving for air.] check fuel lines & filters, dirt blockage need replaceing, check for fuel leaks in lines etc, uses fuel & then sucks air causing it to stop, listen to see if fuel pump is running properly & not stuttering could be short in it's wiring

You need a new idle air control valve located under the throttle body. I know somebody did the cleaning and its work,but it's very tight to remove it out. You can do a search on " RX idle air control valve"

Check for an air leak on the intake manifold or air intake system or hose off somewhere.

750-950 is whats called for,, (RPM) if it runs fine while holding the idle at a higher rate,, adjust the rate a bit higher ( changing of the filter is always a good idea )

EGR Valve is sticking and the dpfe sensor might be bad. Both control idle speed.

sounds like a faulty tbi or the vechiale is in limp mode do a code check and look up code on yahoo

Check all vacuum lines and electric connections. It sounds like a Throttle position sensor or an EGR valve problem. If it idles too slow there are a few screws to turn like on the old carburetors. The vacuum routing is on a label and you may have the wrong hose somewhere.

sounds like the automatic idle speed motor has gone bad and needs replaced

It is part of the fuel pump module inside the fuel tank, all the cars are starting to use this type of setup, the filter is only serviced when the fuel pump fails.
