Thanks everyone for your feedback. We replaced the battery and it is running great! Found out the battery was the original one from the factory. It was 5 yrs. old and the cold cells were bad. So we are going home to La. now. Again thanks for the in put.

Have a load test done on the original battery as it appears that you have a shorted cell that is draining all the power from the jump battery.

Testimonial: "Thanks, it all worked out. Replaced battery and even the entry key lock works now. YEA!!!"

SOURCE: 2002 jeep liberty Turn key switch makes loud

See that? Every once in a while I'm right!!! Reason is that the starter draws far more than anything else in the car. Lights and radio can easily be run by an otherwise ineffective battery, but when loaded (starter draws a bit less than 200amps), the battery will fall flat on its' face! When you jump it, the car is running off the alternator and seems to be OK, till you turn it off again.

SOURCE: I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty. replaced the battery

THEFT system is armed; check the disarm procedure in your Owners Manual.

If this isnt solve it, could be that you need to re-synch your antitheft security module.

Hope this helps. Your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

2002 jeep liberty sport will not start. It won,t even turn over. drove it yesterday no problems. after 1 hour tried to start didn,t work Can you help?

Have you tried to jump started ? If your jeep starts when giving it a jump, you may have a bad battery. Check fuses for fuel and ignition systems. If your battery is bad, could be because the alternator is not charging it. Might want to have this component tested.

2008 Jeep Liberty

Possible solution - This happened to me and my battery was dead in my key fob and also I needed an ignition switch because a piece on it was broken which therefore wouldn't turn to start the engine.

How do you determine between alternator and battery? 2003 jeep liberty frequently won"t start - no radio either, but the lights and windshield wipers do. starts right up when i get it jumped...even after...

the alternator charges the battery so if that happens then your alternator is bad but if you jump it and it works for sometime then i guess ur battery is bad so change the battery
