SOURCE: Someone please help!!!! I have a 2000 buick

I had a similar problem with my 2000 lesabre. It would cut off while driving, or hesitate then keep running while rpm guage would quit operating. Guage would return to normal function at next start up. After reading several posts here and elsewhere, and consulting with my mechanic, I decided to replace the crankshaft position sensor. My mechanic said he had done this before on this GM engine model. He gave me several possible causes and no guarantees. After replacing the CPS (about $120 including parts and labor), the car has not hesitated or cut off once. This was about a month ago. The problem was worse in hot weather, which my mechanic said was typical.

SOURCE: Engine dies numerous times a day.

Have you thought about it possibly being the engine that has something wrong with it? Have you checked the cylinders?

SOURCE: battery goes dead while driving ck out put on alt

Hello. If your battery is not charging while driving, often it is due to low or bad voltage from your voltage regulator, which is also in the Alternator usually on these vehicles. Your engine has been running off the battery only and draining it, not using the alternator's power. Here are some things to look for and a question for clarification:

If you actually replaced the alternator already your regulator should be good. But to clarify your problem report, did you replace the alternator or only check it? It may take several checks while truck is running to catch the problem. If you have not done so already you will need to verify that voltage (13.9 volts or more) is actually reaching right to your battery. 12Volts will not be enough, that means something is wrong and is just battery volts. Please do this test while your Jeep is running, with lights on. DC volts across the battery need to be about 14 Volts while all is on. If you don't get that either the Alternator/VR is bad OR bad connection to it.

Does my jeep need to be reset by a computer to sync the system to recognize all the new parts in order to run like new?

No, it should not have to be reset. If you would like you can take the battery cable off the battery for at least a minute and that should reset the computer. It shouldn't matter though.

1999 jeep grand cherokee.uses alot of gas idals bad.new fuel filter.blowing black smoke.hit the gas.and it will get away from you...need help...

Can be a bad O2 sensor. Check with a scanner which shows live data the 1-1 and 2-1 (upstream) sensors. Good sensors show a rapidly fluctuating voltage from 0.2 to 0.8 V. When the sensor has a steady voltage, then its most probably bad. There is no check engine light and no fault codes set?

Jeep cherokee 2000 starts, runs then quits

Sounds like you need to have a leak down /compression test done on it. It could have some badly leaking valves, or a blown head gasket. How does your oil look? How does your antifreeze look?
DIY engine rebuild is about 900 bucks.

I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cyl. I am getting fault codes P0351,P0352 and P0353 which is defined as #1,#2 and#3 ignition coil circuit and code P0505 JEEP Idle Control System Malfunction and code...

I would check Cam Position Sensor as is directly related with ignition. Power loss is due to the ECU going on "limp mode" to prevent further damage.
I hope this helps!

Die's

This happened to me recently on my 2004 Grand Cherokee. It stalled out three times in a month. No one came up with any codes except that my throttle sensor needed to be replaced ($80). After it was replaced, it stalled two more times, but this time the check engine light never came back on. My local Jeep mechanic looked it over for around six hours and could not find anything. However, my amps on my battery was half of what it should be. He stated that the computer may not have enough juice to control the throttle idle that activates when the vehicle is in low idle speeds. He also stated that once you remove the old battery to touch the battery cable terminals together (you can use a wrench if terminals won't touch) for around ten seconds. This is supposed to drain any remaning juice from the jeep and is supposed to reset the idle memory and computer for the vehicle. After replacing the battery, crank the Jeep up and let it run for at least five minutes without ever touching the gas pedal. Leave it to idle and I repeat, do not touch the gas during this time. The mechanic stated that letting the vehicle run for at least five minutes without touching the gas pedal will set the computer for the Jeep to run efficiently with the new battery and will also set the idle memory for the jeep. I did so and you could actually see the RPM's going up and down until the Jeep found an efficient idle setting. Try that, I know it sounds simple, but I tried every else before this, and it has not stalled out since a couple of weeks ago. I'll write back if it does before the end of next month. Hope this helps.
