Whistling sound upon acceleration

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I've been hearing a constant noise whenever I accelerate. The noise is hard to describe...it's not a grinding noise, but more of a light rubbing/whistling noise. It doesn't happen immediately upon acceleration, but whenever I get to around 10-15 mph the noise starts and continues, unless I'm coasting or slow way down. I mainly hear it on the drivers side. Any suggestions???

If you can get it to whistle at idle, use a peice of plastic tubing, say 1/4 in about 4-5 ft long. Long enough where you can hold one end to your ear (not IN your ear!) and move the other end around your engine compartment. Do some 'sniffing', where it sounds the loudest will be close to the area where your leak is. Replace any hoses that look 'iffy'. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: whistling from engine

This is a symptom of the inlet manifold gasket having a leak. The whistling is air going in through the small leak/hole in the gasket. With the throttle butterfly shut, air is getting sucked in the only way it can.Try tightening the inlet manifold bolts 1st.But more than likely the gasket needs replacing.Hope this helps

SOURCE: 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE V8,

What you are hearing is a vacuum leak. One of the vacuum hoses most likely came off. And is causing a whistling sound. Open the hood and have someone rev up the engine. Then by hearing the whistle you should be able to locate the leak. One of the vacuum lines could have broke, but usually you can cut it off and put it back on.

I have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee. When i crank the car, the oil pressure gauge goes all the way over to 80. It stays that way while I'm driving. Sometimes it will drop slightly as I accelerate , but goes...

whistling noise is prob. intake leak or emmissions air flow problem, the oil gauge, is either , oilpump screen clogged, or gauge prob. or if a lot of miles it could be the engine is just getting weak, or oil pump itself. check oil level, and sensor for leaks .

Whistling can not find any vacuum leaks if you accelerate the whistling goes away

Sounds silly, but you can easily trace the source of the noise by taking a short piece of garden or heater hose, putting one end to your ear and using the opposite end as a probe. It works like a directional microphone and will lead you right to the noise source!! At higher rpm's the noise likely does not go away, but becomes hypersonic and beyond your hearing range.
