My 2005 Camry intermittently gets fault code P0500 which according to Auto Zone translates to Vehicle Speed Sensor malfunction. Haynes repair manuals says it is located on top of the transaxel (which I assume means transmission). I am unable to locate it. Could anyone please help me find it, and how do I get to it? Thanks
They are not the sensors you want. The car uses the abs wheel sensors for vehicle speed. Your problem lies in the abs system , possibly the left front sensor, abs ecu or speedo cluster, Clear the code and see if it stay out otherwise you'll need to go to a trusted technician. .
I also have a toyota camry 2002 xle 2.4l with the same trouble code p0500 vehicle speed sensor 1, my speedo doesnt work and i've tried locating the speed sensor but i couldnt get it. can someone pls show me pictures where the speed sensor is located better still a video of how to replace or fix my speed sensor will be best, would really appreciate it. thank u

I found where the sppeed sensors are located. But there are two of them connected on top of the transmission that are identical. When you are facing the car one is on top of the tranmission toward the left, and the other one is on the top of the transmission toward the right. Which one of the two should be replaced for an internittent failure code P0500? My speedometer works well. But CHECK ENGINE light come on intermittently. I am going to guess and replace one on top toward the left of the transmission. If the Check Engine light comes back I will replace the other one.
I have been looking for my speed sensors. I know where the one is for the driven gear, however my Haynes manual says there is another, and I cannot find it. Please help.
