2005 ToyotaCamry fault code P0500 Vehicle Speed sensor Malfuction

My 2005 Camry intermittently gets fault code P0500 which according to Auto Zone translates to Vehicle Speed Sensor malfunction. Haynes repair manuals says it is located on top of the transaxel (which I assume means transmission). I am unable to locate it. Could anyone please help me find it, and how do I get to it? Thanks

I found where the sppeed sensors are located. But there are two of them connected on top of the transmission that are identical. When you are facing the car one is on top of the tranmission toward the left, and the other one is on the top of the transmission toward the right. Which one of the two should be replaced for an internittent failure code P0500? My speedometer works well. But CHECK ENGINE light come on intermittently. I am going to guess and replace one on top toward the left of the transmission. If the Check Engine light comes back I will replace the other one.

I have been looking for my speed sensors. I know where the one is for the driven gear, however my Haynes manual says there is another, and I cannot find it. Please help.

They are not the sensors you want. The car uses the abs wheel sensors for vehicle speed. Your problem lies in the abs system , possibly the left front sensor, abs ecu or speedo cluster, Clear the code and see if it stay out otherwise you'll need to go to a trusted technician. .

02 dodge ram 1500 4x4 codes p0500 speed sersor A p1794 speed sersor ground

your nearly there , the vehicle speed sensor , vss, isn't recieving correct signal thats the P0500, the P1794 indicates a broken circuit , so will need to diagnose from the vss through to the PCM , get an auto electrician if not experienced on vehicle electronic parts , will save time and money as there are many speed sensors giving information when vehicle is moving

Codes p1747 and p0500

The 500 code is vehicle speed sensor, the other is spooky BUS system failure ECM?EGS controller. The 500 is probably your shift problem. Hopefully the other is a ghost.Seems you should be able to manually shift and get low gear

99 camry wont shift Code P0500 speed sensor

The problem is a gear internal failure the gear who drive the speed sensor is defect the is why you don't have speed sensor reading. There is a way you can verify that remove the speed sensor drive it with a drill check the dashboard you will see.

P0500 Error on Chrysler Grand Voyager

DTC P0500 - Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction
This fault code mean that the vehicle's speed as read by the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is not working properly. A code P0500 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is not reading (functioning) properly
There is a broken/frayed wire leading to the vehicle speed sensor
The vehicle's PCM is not correctly configured for the actual tire size on the vehicle

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

2002 CAMRY LE automatic transmission. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH P0500 CODE comes on intermittently. Can feel a small **** when speed hits 10 mph and then at 20 mph. Took to a service station and mechanic...

for the p0500, the solution:
The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.
i know this tool is helpful for your car.
Next, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the speed sensor. The location of the sensor depends on your vehicle. The sensor could be on the rear axle, transmission, or perhaps the wheel hub (brake) assembly.
If the wiring and connectors are OK, then check the voltage at the speed sensor. Again, the exact procedure wil depend on your make and model of vehicle.
If everything looks OK, replace the sensor.

Looking to buy a chrysler grand voyager 3.3l auto limited top spec the year of the car is 2001 with these problems p0731 and p0500 and just wondered how serious they are and what the cost would be to fix...

P0731 Gear 1 Incorrect Ratio
P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor "A"
P0501 Vehicle Speed Sensor "A" Range/Performance
P0502 Vehicle Speed Sensor "A" Circuit Low Input
P0503 Vehicle Speed Sensor "A" Intermittent/Erratic/High
Sounds like maybe the transmission has a problem or the tires are the wrong size.

I'm not sure how much to fix, though.

Depends on the price of tires (4 or 2) and maybe transmission problem needs to be looked at.
