How to change the brake light

What you want to do is open the trunk and remove the fasteners that hold the trunk lining to the rear deck panel and separate the lining from the deck panel.Disconnect the lamp wiring from the wiring harness. Now you will see some nuts that hold the tail lamp to the lower deck and the quarter panel.Remove these bolts or plastic wing nuts and remove the assembly from the car.To change the bulbs twist the socket and pull the socket and replace the bulb.Just reverse the process to put it back in.

Changing a brake light

Rear: Brake, Back-up, Tail, Turn signal (3 bulbs, all # 3157) To access the rear bulbs, open the liftgate and remove the two phillips head screws from the side of the housing. There is no 3rd screw. There is a metal rod with a ball tip which is stuck in a rubber socket on the vehicle. Slowly and firmly rotate the assembly away from the vehicle until it disengages from the ball pin socket that secures it in back. Rotating it away from the vehicle give you leverage to smoothly disengage the ball from the socket. Each of the three light sockets, all containing the same exact bulb type, can be removed by turning them counter-clockwise 1/4 turn.

Stop light out

For the brake light open the rear hatch and check beside the tail light. I believe ther is 2 phillips head screws right where the light meets the rear hatch on the body panel. remove them and gently yet firmly pull the lens assembly from the corner of the rear body panel. Squeeze the clips on the back of the socket and twist to remove the socket from the lens. Push gently on the bulb and turn carefully to remove light from the socket replace the light and reverse removal procedure to install.
