02 Ford Explorer Heat Blend Door Actuator Simple Fix - No Tools Needed ... I will be making a few new videos shortly on the Ford Explorer, The Ford Expedition, .... This does Not Work on a 2002Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer.
This is a big job. You have to drop steering colum, dash, etc. about 6-8 hour job just to get to the heater core where the blend door is located. Go to youtube and look for video on "heater core replacement ". The video is great. they show you all the hidden bolts and screws. The door is on the front side of heater core. It costs about 15-20 bucks at oreillys auto parts. A tough job for a cheap part. Good luck. I did mine in 2 days. First day disassemble and 2nd day assemble. Take your time. The dealer will charge you 800-1200 dollars for the job.
Lonnie. This is a hard job but heres your answer. I have done this twice myself but it was for heater core replacement the blend door is connected to the heater core assembly. Go to youtube and search "ford expedition heater core replacement". This video is outstanding the guy who made it points to all the hidden screws and bolts. It is an all day job just getting to the heater core. You have to drop the steering column and take off the whole dash to get to the door. both times i did this it took me 2 days. One day to disassemble and the next day to assemble. If you take to dealer be prepared to spend between 900-1200 dollars. The climate door only cost about 20 bucks. God bless you and keep me posted.
You need to google 2001 f150 blend door actuator replacement. It is slightly right of center above the plastic duct work for the floor area. All lower dashboard plastic is removed to get at it.
Then the ducting is removed.

Looks like it sits on top of the heater housing left of the blower. You may be able to see it by removing the glove box. These things tend to strip their plastic gears. If you heard a lot of clicking before it failed, that is what happened.
if the heater hoses are both hot its a blend door actuator, and possably the blend door its self, the way to make sure is to feel around under the dash . feel the black hvac box and if its feels warm then the heater core is good, you will have to remove the dash to replaced the bland door actuator and blend door ,i reccomend you replace both beacause its alot of work to remove the dash so make sure both components are replaced while you are in there
Under the middle of the dash is a part called a blend door actuator it is located between the floor board and the heater housing. It control the door that opens and closes allowing heat to exchange. These go out all the time.
take abaut 5to6 h to fix it im dane so far10 of that, door is lokete bihaind dash on heaer and ac box and dash mast be remow to fix same.Good lack big jab to fix it
