Have 2000 hyundai elantra for a week. the over ride button had to be used for the lock on park and since then it seems that the tranny is stuck in drive. reverse, park, neutral all work good but when you put it in drive it dont down shift when you take off or come up a hill. any ideas?

you need to take the door trim panel off there is a retainer on a rod / check the inside handle / but you need to take off door trim to check to seeif the rod is connected to the latch and handle/ Please rate my response thank you very much

Did you check the transmission fluid level? If necessary, add fluid. However you probably have a more serious problem. Take the car to a qualified transmission mechanic.

I think the shift inter-lock solenoid was stuck at the time. it can also be your brake switch did not make contact. next time check your brake lights to see if they work while it hapen. so just wait!
