Sound like you have a blend door actuator that had stopped working. You have cold AC on the drivers side but not the passenger side? Your car has dual zone climate control where you can adjust either side independently. If you have cold air when you ask for it and hot air when you ask for it then the overall system is working properly, it is just that one side is not moving the blend door between the heater core and the evaporator core. Either you have something inside of the hater box that is keeping the door from moving or that hte motor that is suppose to move the door has quit.

SOURCE: Dual Temperature controls inside - 2002 lincoln ls

The problem is most likely a bad dual climate control valve. This component is located on the right side near the radiator under the hood. It will have several coolant hoses hooked to it and 2 silver cylinders protruding from it. You can clamp off the heater hoses at the heater core and see if both sides cool then and this will tell you that the valve is letting coolant thru when it shouldn't be.

This will narrow it down to either the valve or the control head inside the car,or wiring in between them. The only way to narrow it down further is if you have a scan tool that could access the climate control data. Have seen several of these valves cause this concern and have only seen one control head cause it.

SOURCE: AC/Heater control problem

In the dash there is a part called the blend door and blend door motor. This allows you to have warm air, and not just cold AC or hot heated air. This motor goes out and whatever position it "dies" in is what kind of air you get. The part is relatitively cheap but the labor cost is huge, because the dash needs to be removed for access.

if the heater core is getting hot then the problem is the air temp control blend door actuator, a common problem.

SOURCE: how to install dec heater control valve

First- only my personal opinion, although I just read an article about all types of product insurance & warrantees.
You really don't need any type of warrantee, on any product
If it is new,it should be good for a while
It it is used, you already got a discount, don't give some of that back.

Not to be hurtful, but a car dealer, is not in the vehicle business. They are in marketing and sales. The vehicles are the financial instuments they peddle.
If you really read your warrantee and asked the correct questions, they would politely escort you out the door. I"ve been there.

I own the same 2004LS V8 and have all the service manuals

You would need to know the correct name of the part and a call to the dealer parts dept, they would get you the price. I could do that for you,if I knew what was really happening with the vehicle. $600..00 is a lot, but that's what they charge.

What I see is called-Dual Coolant Control Valve
It is fastened to the pass side of the radiator/fan shroud with one screw.
It has two heater hoses and one electrical connector going to it.
You will see it under the A/C drier.

Not a fun job,but you could replace yourself.

99 SAAB 9-5 PROBLEM WITH AC....AC IS WORKING.. CONDENSING WITH NO PROBLEMS ...WATER RUNNING OUT UNDER CAR..PRESSURES ARE 225 HI 35 LOW... NOT GETTING COLD AIR INSIDE...LUKE WARM ON DRIVERS, AND COOLER...

OK, most cars have heater cores that get hot but the blender door directs air away from this core in the a/c mode when you want cool air from the evaporator.

I'm not sure if there is a control valve which stops the water from going through the heater valve.

I think the part is called a 'heater blend door actuator' that you are after.

I have a 2006 Ford Freestyle & the driver side blows cold air but the passenger side & rear does not. When the car is idling it starts to blow warm air. I have the a/c set on 60 degrees but it is...

these cars are notorious for the ac compressor control valve going bad causing these same symptoms, mainly warm air while idling. It's a cheap part in the neighborhood of $20 and can be easily replaced by you. The only thing you must do first, however, is to have your ac system refrigerant evacuated due to the pressure at the valve. Some places will evac for free, others charge but it's still way cheaper than replacing your compressor!

Heater will not blow warm or hot air. when turning control settings to heat ac compressor coms on.

the most common cause of this is the blower motor speed control resistor has a burnt out thermal limiter, the part is located next to the blower motor under the dash behind the glove box on the passenger side.

The ac blows hot air in the front and cold air in the back

Either the door that controls whether air from the heater or ac is stuck in between or the ac system is having trouble. Minivans sometimes have seperate compressors for the rear and front.
