1997 Chevy C1500 pickup won't start?

The truck ran fine then stopped to visit friends then the truck wold not start, it turns over but no fire. We used starter fluid ans nothing. We changed out the rotor button, distributor cap, crank sensor, ignition coil, but nothing. It sounds like it is trying to start but won't fire up.

Turns out the ground wire from the battery was faulty, replaced it and everything is fine now.

Check what the battery reads while starter is running.Or you can turn on the headlights and try to start it to see if the headlights dim or go out.
If so then the battery is too weak or has bad connections at battery or at the engine ground or starter solenoid.

You need to have the ignition control module checked (It's inside the distributor)

did you test or replace the crankshaft position sensor? That is where the spark signal begins.

SOURCE: 1989 chevy truck, 5.7...will not start....no fire

Hi, I believe there is a computer problem. If possible check codes for no start condition. if you know the no.#1 cylinder at TDC (Top Dead Center) on engine then you will know no#1 distributor is. Good luck.

After having problems getting 1997 chevy truck to go faster then 40-45mph i replaced the fuel pump, ran fine for little over a week. drove it couple days ago went to leave it started ran for couple seconds...

HELLO: It could be a frozen gas line and or stopped up filter, filter is on drivers side under the truck, looks like over sized small coke can with a connection on both ends. Thats the first place I would check.

1997 dodge ram 5.9 fuel pump troubleshooting truck ran fine was low on fuel stopped it went to restart n wouldnt fire poured gas in throttlebody n truck fired off n then died

If the pump has run down on fuel and the fuel pump ran DRY , then it is possible that there is air in the system and the flow can be restrictive. The fuel lines have to be opened out to allow the flow till the air moves out of the system.
The fault will clear one the pump clears this fault .Now you can connecct back and start .

My 91 chevy pickup is hard to start. after replacing everything mechanical, i finally realized the pump is not being primed when the ignition is turned on. when i test the primer circuit at the obd...

its is a relay on the fire wall behind the black plastic shild on passanger side of fire wall under hood if relay is good the problem is most likley in the pump drainning back into tank not keeping prime and will need new fuelpump

1988 Chevy S10 Durango Pickup, Won't start will fire

sounds like ignition module inside of distributor cap under distributor rotor button.these do go bad and can easily be replaced.strong suspicion from your details that this is the culprit.
