In the fan circuit...You have a temp switch screwed on the radiator, a fuze and a relay in the fuze box plus a fan. Swap the relay with another relay, replace the fuze. The other fan should come on when the a/c is turned on. If you fix the fans and it still overheats, you may have a BLOWN HEAD GASKET. ALSO ARE YOU BLEEDING THE AIR FROM THE SYSTEM? DO YOU SMELL EXHAUST IN THE COOLANT?
could you have installed the thermostat backwards? There should be a bleed screw on the thermostat housing. Also why did you change the thermostat?
You undoubtedly have a blown head gasket...
it's a labor intensive repair, you need to remove the upper 1/2 of the engine.

I DON'T SMELL ANY EXHAUST IN THE COOLANT, ALL OF MY PROBLEMS SEEMED TO DOMINO AFTER I CHANGED MY THERMOSTAT, COULD IT BE FAULTY? MY BUG RAN LIKE A CHAMP UNTIL THE THERMOSTAT WAS CHANGED BUT I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT BLEEDING THE AIR HOW DO I DO THAT? I WILL TRY CHANGING THE FUSES BUT THE CHILTON FAN TEST PROVED THE FANS TO BE OK OTHER THEN THEY RAN WHEN I PULLED THAT 1 FUSE OUT WHICH CONFUSED ME.?

WE RAN SOME THERMA-GASKET THROUGHT THE ENGINE AND IT HAS WORKED SO FAR LIKE A CHARM.
HOPE THIS STUFF DOES ALL IT SAYS AND WE DON'T END UP HAVING TO REPLACE THE GASKET BUT MY BEETLE IS RUNNING FAB RIGHT NOW.
